As unpredictable as he is brutal, the self-appointed pirate king known as Gangplank rules Bilgewater through a mix of fear, violence and cunning. Where he sails, death and ruin follow, and such is his infamy and reputation that the merest sight of his black sails on the horizon causes panic among even the hardiest crew.

Larger-than-life corsair kings tend to accumulate tall tales the way a warship picks up barnacles, but the tenuous balance of power in Bilgewater hinges on everyone believing the stories told about him.

Bloody hell he looks fearsome. A man worthy of the title of "Saltwater Scourge".

Also his blade looks enchanted. That fire's just there, not a hint of oil or anything.

Dude, I will say this. Imagine GP lining up all kind of barrels in Howling Abyss in the mid bushes, and his enemies decide to close in on him. "Yaaargh! ya'll never take ol' Plank live! proceeds to blow the kegs up, you up, the bloody bridge up, and himself up. Gangplank But then, he ate an orange and everything was K.

The new Sailor GP has his sleeves rolled up, head shaved, immaculate beard, ready to work like all the other sailors - all completely wrong. GP shouldn't be swabbing the poopdeck - he should be creating it by shitting on his lane opponent.

One of the best splash arts in the game - this Shaggy lookin badass doesn't need his sleeves rolled up; he doesn't work. He eats oranges and gets money. He keeps his beard and hair as they were bestowed upon him by the good Lord. He's the goddamn pirate king, not some low level grunt. This looks NOTHING like him.

Y'know. For a short non-bio, that little lore-replacement tidbit is rather well done and hints at a lot of semi-substantial things.

Almost-good job Riot!

As for the rework itself, I feel sad that Gangplank had to be turned into such a generic badass pirate king. I really liked that he wasn't the older, heavy, almost royal, Captain with a capital C. But the rough and ready and very energetic and still somewhat young man in his prime.

Old GP felt like he was such a prominent figure in Bilgewater, and a League Champion at that, because of his charisma, attitude, energy and raw skill.

My initial impression of this new version is an old cunning cougar who just so happens to be strong enough to throw any dissenters out the window.

In everything from how excessively broad his shoulders are, to how cartoony and clunky his gun is, to how he no longer has a basic and neat beard, but this massive thing covering his neck.

At least his VO seems like it feels the same, and his updated gameplay looks to be really cool.

Just a shame he wasn't made more unique.

I personally think that both GP and MF look absolutely freaking fantastic now! Their in-game models are super-beautiful!

By the way, they changed the name of the Ship of GP or its just my idea?

Gonna be honest, his splash looks way more intimidating than the in-game model.

Riot why are we getting another batch 6 750 skins not a single skin in this "event" has new particles? What the hell is the point of the event? We just got SEVERAL batches of exclusively 750 skins now we have another whole batch... makes 27 since debonair ez/vi

I'm really annoyed that this rework didn't actually fix any of the issues surrounding gangplank. His Q is still wonky. Critplank is still a thing. His E is cool in theory, but critplank is still going to be the defining playstyle.
