Legends of Runeterra: the first expansion!

Ok, I am really excited about the upcoming open beta for Legends of Runeterra. Finally I will be able to collect cards from Piltover and Zaun in a game!

However, greedy me is not satisfied with that yet. Riot told us that they are going to release expansions for this game in the future, bringing new regions to the game to chose from as well as adding new cards to the existing decks tying them with this new region.

So I want to ask: Which region do you think will they add next? What should it be focused on? And what new cards could this expansion bring to the other decks which are related to this new region?

My thoughts: Shurima

I think adding Shurima as the next region makes sense, it is one of the bigger regions of the game with alot of cool lore behind it. Maybe the playstyle could be focused on ancient artefacts you can equip your units with to make them stronger?

For my favourite deck, Piltover/Zaun, I think this would be a good opportunity to add Camille to the deck. Ezreal would actually have been my first choice, but he already exists in the base game. Camille has some strings to Shurima as well, with the guy who augmented her coming from there and her clan found the Brackern crystals for their hextech research there.

So maybe we could get some Brackern hextech crystals as artefacts to augment units on your side. Maybe go even further and give us complete hextech augmentations, adding new effects to your minions?

Wouldn’t be surprised if they added the Void before Shurima because Kai’Sa exists. However, I also wouldn’t be surprised if they added them at the same time because of their connection (Btw, I want to see Azir, Nasus, Renekton, Xerath, and all of the other successful and not successful ascendants. Shurima’s always been a favorite region).

I personally would like to see an expansion based on the Vastayan people. I know that’s not a region, but.......... They do come from everywhere. I want to see the different types of Vastaya. Most importantly, I want to see more Marai people. A lot of the Vastayan champions we know do reside in Ionia, so they could just slip ‘em in there.

I get them having to add the bigger regions first, But I really hope Bandle City gets its own in the future.

I'd like to see Targon get added. There are so many themes that can be explored:

Sun-themed cards with Leona; Moon-themed cards with Diana and Aphelios; Spartan-style army with Pantheon. And of course Kayle, Morgana, and Taric all have potential, as well, if we group them with the Targonians. All of these demigod, even god-tier beings could make for interesting deck themes.

Most of all, a cosmic deck with Zoe and Aurelion Sol would be an instant favorite for me.

Based off empirical evidence I'm inclined to agree with you. Shurima is the only region with concept art that isn't in the game which leads me to believe that they are next anyways.

These "Burning Fist" cards could technically be holdovers from the initial Noxian deck, that were canned because with the Crimson court, Trifarion Legion and Reckoners the deck was becoming over-saturated, but I doubt it. Too many of these concepts are in a finished state and they are the last concept arts found on the site. Leading me to believe it's an intentional tease.

Blitzcrank, Ekko, Singed, Twitch, Urgot, Viktor, Warwick, or Zac for Zaun would be nice. Zaun has really bad representation because of Teemo getting shoehorned in, so I'd really like to see a Zauny Zaunite in. Nothing against Jinx, but most of what she does takes place in Piltover, so the Piltover/Zaun faction is basically Piltover>Yordles>Zaun. (I'd give it a solid 2P/1.3Y/.7Z)

If you were going to add augmentation/hextechy via Camille it would be nice to get Blitzcrank, Ekko, or Viktor for Zaun representatives. Maybe more than one if you also added Orianna or Jayce.

I think Bilgewater and Shurima are locks because they both already have a really cohesive aesthetic and a more than healthy champion pool to pull from. I would be really excited to see them take a crack at some of the less coherent regions like The Void, Bandle City, or Ixtal. I doubt that'll happen though, unless we get a big lore dump, demacia-style.

I also wish for Shurima a lot Imagine all the cards it can have and all the worldbuilding it can bring for Shurima! Ascended like Aatrox Setaka and Horok as cards (similar to how Ledros is a card) Huge beasts and magical golems and warmachines Azir summoning sand soldier cards Cards that showcase more stuff about Shurima's soldiers and warriors both in modern times and Imperial times

I'd say Shurima or the void are the most likely additions since Shurima is probably the most fleshed out faction with tons of characters and the void simply lends itself to some really neat playstyles that aren't in the game already. I mean I could easily see the void as a faction that produces lots of creatures, gets stronger by killing stuff, destroys cards directly and may even be able to destroy the enemy deck/hand. There are so many possibilities that would make sense for the void.

Meanwhile I have a hard time figuring out how Shurima would play in the game. Maybe a playstyle focused around debuffs?(like the desert draining away your strength)?

Bilgewater, give me the Pirate expension

K6KillzU1/29/2020, 7:04:07 PM1 votes

Icathia. Make it based around evolutions like gaining key words for khazix or straight buffs per unit killed for chogath. Just some ideas

Henry Legoland2/13/2020, 2:17:49 PM1 votes

I'd like to see void. I don't think it will be the next one. Mt. Targon would be cool too but also doesn't sound like it will be one of the first expansions.

My bet is on Shurima or Bildgewater for the next one.

I believe Shurima should have Sivir and Cassio with at least one of the egyption-god-based champions (Nasus, Renekton and Azir). For Azir summoning temporary sand soldiers would be a great mechanic but this would be too similar to Heca. For this reason I believe they will not have added Azir as one of Shurima's champions.

Bildgewater should definately have Gangplank, maybe they can do something with spells or 0 atk units that represent his barrels. Miss Fortune seems like an obvious inclusion as well when creating a Bildgewater region and well, it's a card game, so not implementing Twisted Fate at some point just sounds like a missed opportunity. Bildgewater can also bring a minion archetype in Pirates, following in the footsteps of Yetis, Poros, Spiders and Elites.
