@riot: How much does Lore effect champs

Im still working through champion lore and info on Runeterra. But im wondering how much the story effects in game changes. Like items, champion abilities ect. Do yall create lore for new character concepts before or after a kit concept?

As for other players, do you care more about having a unique kit ect, or a champ having interesting story and place in the lore

Think of the story of the character as you would concept art for the Champ. Sometimes the kit might be in mind, or it might just be a role that the game needs, or a general idea to disrupt the game experience, or there's a genre or character type we want to explore. But the ideation process, the cauldron from which the new Champ (or Champ Update) is formed, is a very collaborative melding of ideas. The character's personality, motivations (the why of who they are), flow through the character's looks (the art design), the voice (VO script, direction, performance and audio magic), what they do (game design, the kit) and how they move (animation).

When it all comes together, each aspect should all inform each other to create a thematically cohesive, resonant experience in-game and out.

*affect *affect *affect *affect *affect *affect *affect *affect *affect *affect

Do you realize "affect" & "effect" have absolutely DIFFERENT meanings??

From what the rioters said,it pretty much goes by a case-by-case-basis how a champion concept starts.

Sometimes they start with a certain theme(Aurelions development started with the idea of making a chinese dragon),sometimes they start with a certain gameplay-idea(Tahm was made because they wanted a champ that can eat others),sometimes they start with a certain role in mind(taliyah was made because they wanted a classical mage) and sometimes with a certain artwork(Jinxs design was pretty much the first thing they made about her).

I think affects the gameplay more in terms of general feeling(for example braum got his W,because protecting others is pretty fitting for him),but thats generally it.

Just gonna mention Lux's lore how and it doesn't interact with her kit, the spell thief who steals magic. Oh and she can bend light to turn invisible. Maybe Rammus. his lore is on point to his kit too you know. There is more too but you get the idea. Only the new champs get good lore :'(

I guess I'm in the bitter vet area in that I expect riot to gut both the kits and the lore of the champs I like and then replace it with crap.

However as per your question I suppose I'd put a solid kit (doesn't have to be unique) and then aesthetics before lore. I don't trust the lore of champs because it is the most fluid aspect of them and is the easiest aspect of a champ for rito to gut.
