Zaun Info search: I need help!

FlameHalbrdOkido··1 votes·1,981 views

I am writing a story on a person/champion from Zaun. But I find myself lacking in all the rich details that this city/state has to offer.

Most sources only have some information, not all the details so nothing is all in the same spot.

All of these locations, titles, names, positions, and types of objects and people are all spread out across bios, color stories, comics, teasers, champ pages, event pages, videos, nexus and universe pages.

I need your help Story, Art, & Sound community to develope a dictionary on ALL things Zaun. Can I get some help here?

Here is the story so far: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/OLmnRKpJ-extended-lore-update-the-endurance-of-hope

The main goal of this post is to gather as much info on Zaun in terms of names for this and context as possible.

I think once I have a good dictionary going I will make an official post for everyone to see.

Such questions I have and things I hope to know and have a name for to fill out my story.

Are all the modes of transportation in Zaun that use chains to descend/ascend called Hexdraulic Coveyors? What was the mechanism used to decsend into Zaun from Camille's comic called? Are the Chem barons basically the government? Who controls Zaun? What are the names of those who are augmented, and what are the names for augmented who work for the the chem barons Whats the definition of a chem-thug, are they different from those augmented? What differs augmented from cyborgs? What exactly is a vigilnaut?

What are the different names of the levels of Zaun? So far I know of the Sumps, Enestrol, Slums, and Bridgwaltz.

Whats the difference between sumpsnipes and the Lost Children of Zaun

And I have so much more.

Research is key I think. Lots of people take these kinds of opportunities to compeltly spill the beans about lore to people like yourself and IMO that's a shame becuase whats the point in getting invested into the lore if others are just going to preview it for you.

My recommendation Universe site as the primary source and take a look at the Zaun profile page. I really recommending doing the same for the Piltover page as well since you will find interesting things about Zaun equally there. If you do that and still have questions then then the community wont likely know the answer as well.

Ps. Twitch and Singed do not have canon lore yet. So don't read their stories or you will be confused.

Thanks for the comment Oh belive me I do enjoy reading the lore, ive read and seen everything that Riot has put out on Zaun and everything else. Its just been a while since then, and its frustrating knowing that there is a specific name for the augmented chem thug/bruisers (as Camille calls one) that are in Zaun gangs or are gangsters that work under chem barons, but even though u read on them before and saw a picture of them from a comic with Viktor in it, u can't remember it when u need it and the flow of your writing slows down to a trickle.

I think it would be benefitual to not just me but any and everyone if EVERY region had a comprehensive field guide/dictionary. No one wants to comb throught event pages, region pages, bios, color stories, to find ONE detail or name, its not efficient and it uses up a bunch of time. If someone knows the page I need to go to, or remembers what I'm lookig for, then I was hoping they could pop in and help me out.

Well you can always press F3 for the search function. If not familiar with this function it basically searches the current page your on for key words imputed into the bar. That always helps me when I'm in a similar situation as yourself.

Other wise this could help- Trivia facts. It has canon lore info that has yet to be mentioned in any of the stories yet! Best to write the info down somewhere, always good to draw back on.

Thank you for the helpful tip and link!

I can answer a few of these.

Whats the difference between sumpsnipes and the Lost Children of Zaun

"Sumpsnipe" is a derogatory term for a child from the Sump level. The Lost Children of Zaun are Ekko's gang. Not all Zaun kids are in Ekko's gang.

Are the Chem barons basically the government? Who controls Zaun?

They are not the government, but they are in control of Zaun. There is no formal government. The chem barons are rich and scary, and if you disagree with them you might disappear. That makes them in charge, even though there is nothing official about the arrangement.

Whats the definition of a chem-thug, are they different from those augmented?

I don't recognise the exact phrase "chem-thug". But augmentations can be either hextech or chem-tech, so a chemically augmented person would probably be a chem-thug.

What are the names of those who are augmented, and what are the names for augmented who work for the the chem barons.

I don't think there is a specific name for them. Augmentations are pretty common in Zaun-Piltover. There is a religious group known as the Glorious Evolved whose beliefs revolve around augmentation. They are inspired by Viktor, but Viktor thinks they're idiots.

There are also people known as "Vigilnauts" who are heavily augmented to be brutal and dangerous combatants. Ekko fights one of them in his cinematic trailer.

Are all the modes of transportation in Zaun that use chains to descend/ascend called Hexdraulic Coveyors?

One in particular is known as "the Rising Howl".

That's all I've got for now.

thank you soo much! That was very helpful. I think Vigilnauts was a term I was looking for.

What about the chain elevator used the Warwick trailer, would that be called a Hexdraulic Convayor as well?

And is Old Hungry basically a large iconic clock?

I don't think that little carriage is a Hexdraulic Conveyor. It's referred to as a "gondola" in this article.

Old Hungry is a clock tower, yes. It is a popular haunt for the Zaun kids, and is the "hear of Old Zaun" according to Ekko's bio.

Another important bit of Zaun lingo is "the Gray". This refers to the constant chemical fog that makes living in Zaun such a health hazard.
