@Jaredan, you should stop making lore now

Seriously, if u can't please your fans you should let some one else Run Narrative. Since I last spoke to you(which is when I asked about Azirs and xeraths short stories) None of u guys in narrative attempted to communicate with the lore community( except on Rek Sais Q&A). And until recently you said it was because you didn't know how to respond??? A simple thread would have been better. Yet those ideals isn't in Narratives book. You still have yet to release anything that isn't tied to a champ release. Such as the Shurima stories. Honestly I hate to say it but, this Narrative could be the worst, as far as I know. Should really let stronger people Handle this job. No disrespect at all, just seems like it's the best choice

They STILL haven't done that Discussion that they promised a while back.

Like.

How much effort does that take. We literally gave them topics.

It's been 2 and a half weeks now. Every day I come back here and check.

Nothing.

I had so much hope that this could become a weekly thing, but it turned out the Narrative team couldn't make ONE FREAKING thread on these forums they claim they want to use.

Speculation incoming but I suspect a lot of narrative's issues comes from constant team shuffling and too many hands on a project with too many visions pulling it apart.

Then again, it'd be nice if we had a better idea of WHO was on the narrative team to begin with instead of a speculation list and a few iconic faces. It'd be nice to see narrative discuss themes and values

For example, I remember reading the Sion update and how one of the visual goals was the contrast between the bulkier-older-Sion with the sleeker-agile-precise-Darius which shows the advancement of Noxus.

IT'D BE TOTALLY NEAT IF NARRATIVE HAD A DISCUSSION AROUND THIS.

Instead we get music videos.

Music videos on Amumu's backstory? Sure, that's neat and all... but it's instantaneous gratification that immediately fades away.

I want lore we can discuss and stories to speculate on, not small consumable bits of lore that don't interlock together.

Come on, guys. After what happened with Opeli, I had really, really hoped that people had turned over a new leaf.

Jaredan is a nice guy. I'm not sure which specific lore pieces are his, because authorship isn't always clear, but I think new Narrative has produced some good lore. You know that I was bitterly opposed to the Great Retcon, and I really don't like how Narrative isn't engaging with the community in a meaningful way (e.g. talking about settings and Champions before rewriting them), but I think they're trying. They've also been releasing more "backwards-compatible" lore of late.

Creating a thread telling someone they should resign is a real low-blow. Let's keep some sense of perspective.

WHEN DID HE START?!

uproarious laughter

But seriously I don't blame Jaredan exclusively for the current lore vacuum. We don't know for certain what's going on so until things are cleared up we can safely just blame the entirety of rito's narrative team.

@GenociderX You should probably stop making threads now

Dotintheparadox2/11/2015, 2:55:38 AM2 votes

I don't want him to stop writing, I just want him to write for the community that actually kept up with the lore before the bullshit retcon, instead of for themselves like they seem to be doing now.

I just wish they would stop hiding behind their legalese about not being allowed to talk to us in case copyright. Sure it is a legitimate issue about why they don't ask us for specific lore ideas, but how the heck does that keep them from writing any new lore in the past 5 months outside new releases. I know that the creative process takes time and that they can't just throw us any random crap they think of. But really, they are starting from a blank slate (yay retcons -_-) so any cool idea they have could be canonized with ease at this point and there shouldn't be anything that is slowing them down this much, unless they plan to release the new revamped lore in one fell swoop as a giant compendium of sorts.

Just going to point out that Jax still does not have a reason to exist now that the league is gone. Take the league put of his lore and you are left with random hermit. Are they okay with one of their champions being the 'random hermit'

I don't like how the current narrative team is handling things either, but don't go making negative threads targeting specific members of it. It's simply not constructive.

No disrespect at all, just seems like it's the best choice

I'm fairly sure the OP is just some targeted flaming regardless of you saying this...

We are all frustrated with narratives lack of communication and unwillingness to share. Don't take it out on Jaredan specifically.

lol the Lore Team is just a public figure, they dont actually DO lore.

At best they are playtesters.

I actually don't think Riot EVER had a lore team; it was just something picked up collectively by a bunch of employees and they got the OK to make content. As soon as someone decided to put a "greater focus" on lore, they've done nothing. Absolutely nothing. And it's so hard, as someone who's been around for so many years, to see the Olympus-sized drop-off in content in the last 2-3 years.

I don't know what happened. Does the company that exists now look like it would put in the effort to maintaining a Journal of Justice, simply in terms of fan interaction and content generation? That Riot is dead.

I wish they'd go into more detail, and answer more of the "difficult" questions and counterpoints. I know there's plenty Riot can't reveal for actual reasons, but, contrary to what no one here believes, there is a communicative middle ground between "Area 51" and "comprehensive video of all inner workings down to the individual nostril hair."
