So why is Nautlius rivals with Fizz and Nami?

Let's look at Nautlius story for a second, he was a sailor who was abandon by his crew as he was pulled into the ocean's depths by an unknown black ooze. and the next thing he knew, he woke up on the ocean depths, becoming one with the suit and began his search for the people who abandoned him. He also assisted in fighting against the shadow isles along side Gangplank and Miss Fourtune as the black mist attacked Bilgewater. But one thing was never mentioned was why he rivals are apparently Fizz and Nami. As far as I am aware of they haven't had any interactions as far as just the fact he was reborn in the Guardian Sea where Nami and Fizz were from... But that's about it really, anyone know/have ideas?

My personal head cannon is that Nautilus and Nami have the same thoughts about each other; they both perceive the other as the worst thing in their life.

  • To Nautilus, Nami represents the darkness that took away everything from him. As a man driven by revenge Nami would be on his list of people to kill.
  • To Nami, Nautilus is the face of the darkness that will destroy everything she knows and loves. In the quest to find the moonstone and save her people, Nautilus is the thing that stands in her way.

In this headcannon of mine, the irony is that if they learned a bit about each other, they'd come to understand they're not that different from each other, and could potentially be friends.

That's head cannon though, but the same sentiments are the same; Nautilus probably doesn't like sea creatures all that much considering what the sea did to him, and Nami likely doesn't have anything good to say about the black sludgy oozy stuff that transformed Nautilus.

Maybe Nautilus thinks one of them is responsible for whatever dragged him under? Since they are indeed all from the same sea, he could be assuming that it was one of them.

well who doesnt like fizz

GreenLore12/29/2014, 7:39:45 PM6 votes

well naut was underwater for quite some time,so maybe he developed a grudge against the ocean in general and fizz and nami simply remind him of that time.

Alternatively what if he encountered their towns while he was underwater?

He is the boogie man of the sea...fizz and nami are like little children getting tucked into their water beds.

Fizz ult ruined his ship and nami supported fizz.

Because Nautilus is an angry person.

Nautilus is rivals with them because he hates everything that comes from the ocean for the way the mysterious black thingy changed him. That is what I always assumed.

Because they remind him of the hunt.

But in all honesty, there's a bit about Naut we cant just assume outright. He and the dark entity that took him are one, and theres no telling how much, or how little of his humanity and ability to reason and think for himself remain, as opposed to if the darkness is consuming him, controlling him, or just influencing him. So lets settle for a middle ground. On Naut's human side, he sees sea creatures on land, fish out of water where they are not supposed to be. Whats more, he's become very stoic, capable of feeling only a deep silent steadfastness, or a great overwhelming anger. A person like this would not take kindly to a small, fast talking prankster, or a light-hearted pun cracking water bender. Now more importantly, is what the darkness thinks. It is hard to tell much, but if anything, it would see any and all capable of being friendly to Naut, and/or interested in finding ways of purifying him, as an enemy, and would push Naut's thoughts in such a direction.

You assume that Riot's narrative department actually have some kinda plan. So far, they have shown no sign that they know what they are doing.

As far as I can tell, they're making crappy lore and leaving little tidbits behind that they can maybe come back to and figure out later.

Nami turned him down when he asked her out and Fizz laughed at him.

The black ooze is what is feared in the depths, so basically nami and fizz are scared of him since the ooze has corrupted him.

I can see that he would have an aversion to the other sea champions, since they represent the ocean that took him. I still think he should have been on a ship with either Gangplank or Miss Fortune, and should hate that person for leaving them behind. As it is, he seems very forgiving of the crew that left him to drown.

Riot has a dartboard with random champs that happen to be in the area on it.

Wait if nautilus wants revenge why dosent he just make a deal with kalista and be done with it.Sry for bad english.

I kinda just see Nautilus as being flat out hateful and distrustful of anything from the ocean at this point. It's not a very good reason, just his paranoia.
