The writing and story is superb, don't get me wrong, but I can't help but be curious as to where the Gravedigger has gotten off too. Unless of course, he's not associated with the Shadow Isles anymore and his lore changed.

Lore-wise, while he is from the Shadow Isles, he may not have much a connection with the predatory, overreaching Black Mist.
In regards to Yorick as a champion, he is scheduled to receive a big-scope character update, which usually includes a thematic revamping. Narrative most likely decided to avoid committing to a Lore for him before exploring him adequately, which will happen during the update process.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a Sion with Mr. Mori and he becomes almost unrecognizable as the original champion, so writing lore that would coincide with his current characterization would be superfluous, since he's just gonna completely change. This usually works out really well though, just look at the aforementioned Sion and even Karthus. Imagine Yorick as a big, scary ass kicking necromancer or something, that'd be frigging awesome.

BattleBalladeer1 votesI have seen this link to the wiki going around the forums a couple times now and we need a disclaimer that the last update on this was 2 years old. It is HIGHLY LIKELY these concepts were already scrapped. Riot has already changed who was working on the project:

Alright, I want to thank everyone for their contributions to this thread, but I am locking it for the time being.
After some discussion, I'm handing off the Yorick rework prototype to RiotScruffy (who did a great job on Skarner as you'll see very soon) - and we've reordered the reworks we're doing. Yorick will likely get a larger rework than Xerath, but this means we need substantially more time to do it right.

Now the real question is whether or not Scruffy is still on the case, because according to ZenonTheStoic he is going to have the most relevant and current info on Yorick.

GreenLore2 votesThe lantern bearing wretch was definetly thresh. His lore mentions him being a guardian of the forbidden artifacts and even mentions how he was sitting there with only the light of his lantern.
However it wouldn't surprise me if yorick was indeed an inhabitant of the isles,since there'd be no reason for the ruined king to take a gravedigger to the isles(as he had no intention of taking "no" for an answer)
CubedJustice3 votesExcept the choice of words are off for Thresh. He's a menacing spirit, torturer of souls, bane of the damned. He's not a horrible, disgusting wretch. And Yorick DOES carry a lantern, and as a gravedigger, would not have a high status. Meaning he would be subjected to doing grunt work, like guiding people. I can't get the picture of Yorick guiding the group through a dark forest by dim lanternlight out of my head.

They could have found the way to the underground and met thresh there,or he was off duty or he noticed the ruckus above and went to see what was happening.
