Kayle as a Demacian?

How can Demacia simultaneously revere Kayle and also hate mages? Do they think that Kayle is somehow not a mage? Flying and shooting fire out of your glowing sword isn't magic?

Demacia is a hypocritical nation.

How can certain real world religions believe in concepts like burning bushes, plagues of vermin, necromancy, yet still have a deep anathema and hatred towards magic and "witchcraft?"

There is typically a stark contrast between "acts of the divine" and "magic," so Demacia could easily see Kayle as a deity capable of divine feats and not qualify it as magic (and thus, justify magic used by someone like Garen as an extension of that deity's power).

It's not that hard. Read Poppy bio and Sylas story it's stated many times that Demacia started as a REFUGE from magic in the Rune Wars and the trend of hating mages slowly ramped up over the years. They only stated locking them up around the time Sylas was a kid.

Anything/one who holds up Demacian ideals is ok in their books. Kayle was there during the beginnings of Demacia and so they probably worshipped her and that’s why some of their architecture resembles her. Kayle upheld their values and rules and so they had no beef with her.

I think Riot want to make out that Targon is so special, people ignore the ideals they have and just revere it. If Kayle and Morgana are 2 of the same being (Justice), then Demacia's will love them anyway because they are Aspects.

Makes me wonder on Demacian's reaction to Taric if he returns there.

Admittedly the new biographies did nothing to even remotely address this curiosity. Idk maybe another story to come might, but until then it does feel a little inchohrent.

Kayle left demacia a long time ago, so the demacians likely think of Kayle as some sort of deity not a mage.

They likely have a very christian-like idea of magic where holy powers are ok, but every other kind of magic is evil.
