Which is ironic because the moon's light is actually sunlight reflected off of the moon's surface.
I'm not saying that the moon isn't important to her lore or anything, only that she ironically rejects the sun even though without it she could not see her hand an inch from her face, let alone the moon floating in orbit.

Because now she is doing the same thing to the solari that they(or at least their elders) tried to do to her(and maybe the lunari too).
The solari elders wanted to force diana to worship the sun and wanted to execute her when she wore the lunari armor. So just like the moon is reflecting the light of the sun,she is reflecting the cruelty that has been done to her.
Embertine12 votesThat is actually very deep. I like it a lot. So in a sense, Diana and Leona are very similar as they both gained their power through their own people trying to kill them. Leona was given her power when she was about to be executed from refusing to kill a fellow member of Rakkor as it would go against her own personal beliefs. Diana gained hers when she was about to be executed for refusing to turn her back on the moon as it would have gone against her own personal beliefs as well.
Leona and Diana are so similar yet so different. Kind of like two sides of the same coin.

I know the moon - sun thing is kinda elementary school knowledge but really, this is high fantasy setting we're taking about here. In this setting, all physics and settings go as the writer pleases.
When you have magic, sci-fi level technologies and random special abilities that don't have specific categorisations existing in the same realm at the same time, saying moon doesn't borrow the light from the sun is really no big deal.

Red Dwarfs are stars, and there are very small Red Dwarfs out there (one that we know of being about 15 Jupiter masses), and there are very large planets (non-fusing, non-stellar objects). The largest planet sits in at around 30 Jupiter masses, about double that of the Red Dwarf star named Gliese 229.
And before anyone goes to call me out on the fact that a satellite half the size of its orbital parent would be a big gravitational pull in of itself, technically our own sun doesn't stand still as it orbits the Milky Way Super Black Hole. Earth and the other planets pull on the sun, making them all orbit a point that is not the exact center of the sun.
But, for that planet to be rocky like Runeterra? Very unlikely. But then again, "Magic" is a part of Runeterra. One could argue that the magic of Runeterra has a great gravitational impact on neighboring bodies, potentially grabbing a very small and dim star that the inhabitants of Runeterra mistakenly call a moon. Alternatively, the magic of Runeterra could make a gigantic rocky planet (on the level of 50-100 Jupiter masses) feel like one of something close to Earth's mass, which would be large enough to attract a small star (a brown or red dwarf) to orbit it as it orbits its own star.

Diana is the Goddess of the moon so in mythology, she has her own entitled moon that projects her own light. When science came along, it proved that the Sun actually reflected its light off the Moon's surface during night. Vampires 
were too awesome to disregard so no one really concerns it.

As far as I am interpreting with my unique perspective, there is the possibility the light of 's moon is a source all owning inside of the moon Loves in her Realm. Being the human being I am and a person liking to main at times, there are some similar strengths we share. I will continue to believe in the creative logic I classify with my own perspective; whether I am Right or Wrong, for I believe in the Truth which embraces sincerely. Even when the creative creator for 's Lore might prove me wrong, I will believe the interpretations I conclude with my mind.
There is other lore or other stories out in the human being realm which have defined a possibility of other light sources owned inside of their own classified object defined as moons; which are the alternatives of Light Source of Moons owning their own light source. Thus, defines the definition unique more boldly with embracing Truth; which she might classify as a virtue to be upheld by all believing in her capacity of a Champion in League of Legends.

You are very much right about neither of us being able to know we are right until the creators of Diana's and Leona's lore step forth to state weather or not the sun and moon actually have magical properties.
The point of my reply that you replied to however, is that people really shouldn't try to inject their own versions of lore into the league's story because they felt offended by what someone has said about one of their favorite champions.
All lore belongs to Riot. And if they so decide to change it and make it so that runeterra's moon projects its own light instead of reflecting the light of the sun, then I will happily accept it, especially since that would fill the world of runeterra with much more intrigue and mystery.

((why the feck doesn't your post have a quote button >.<)) Thing is, we don't have a definitive answer as to whether Earth rules applies in Runeterra as regards the Sun and Moon. Remember that Runeterra is a fantasy world full of magic, and the mere mention of magic is reason enough to consider physics that is different, that maybe just maybe the moon is it's own light source. Even if it did reflect light from the sun, it's just as possible that all or some of Runeterra's inhabitants do not know that. Maybe Diana was taught that but she now rejects it as a 'false teaching' of the Solari, seeing as she hates sun worshippers, particularly the Solari for their ancient atrocities and for trying to execute Diana as a heretic. Said hatred appears to be a bit blind but is partially understandable, given what happened.

And yes are correct that they may not essentially operate the same as our own moon and sun. However there has been nothing said that they do not as well. My point is, that people shouldn't assume that simply because there is magic involved in the world of runeterra, that the sun and moon have to be magic as well. If they were than shouldn't the planet itself be magic? And if that is the case, why hasn't it chosen it's own champion? Why hasn't it done anything about the multitude of calamities that its inhabitants have caused across its surface?
Anyway before I start some sort of rant here. People really shouldn't try to inject their own versions of lore into the league story just because they feel offended by something someone has said about one of their favorite champions.
