Even though I think the skin is fine, this feels kind of like a wasted opportunity for riot. Specifically, it'd be cool if we had a elementalist champ who could change elements as the game goes on, and as he/she does, the champ's skills would change based on the element it is in.

Well I think we'll receive some sort of elementalist eventually(I remember that they once worked on an elemental hydra champ,not sure what happened with that concept though),just because an archetype is already represented in a skin doesn't mean they won't represent it among champs at all.
I mean we got 
even though we already had grim reaper 
and 
even though we had already dread knight 
If they do an elementalist,then he/she is likely going to work very differently from E-Lux,cause having 10 different forms for one champ is simply overkill(imagine how hard it would be to do even one decent skin for him/her)
