On the topic of changing color schemes after VGU's

Malicious Metal·3/6/2017, 11:17:47 PM·91 votes·3,977 views

I really hope Mordekaiser isn't going to become your standard blue/green misty ghost after his VGU. He is an ancient revenant, the source of his power something far more vile and unholy than the black mist.

It may empower him but Mordekaiser's true power comes over his own dark necromantic arts, drawing from his own malice and will to dominate in order to sustain his immortality and never-ending conquest. He's got these cold Greyish, red hues in his abilities that I feel work really well with an Immortal Revenant King clad in heavy metal armor.

Or maybe we could amp up the darkness component due to him being described to have a blackened soul and eyes of pure Witchfire and make his abilities BLACK and fiery Crimson.

I dunno, just rambling at this point because I'm so hyped over Galio's VGU. Might just try formulate some thoughts on Morde's VGU once I've calmed down.

Unlikely. Galio got color-swapped to better represent Demacia and to fit in some lore.

Mordekaiser is already established as an undead beyond the Shadow Isles green mist. It's not part of Mordekaiser's origin even if he lives there currently, and just like Elise who still wears the Noxian black and red, he should retain his current colors. If anything, Mordekaiser could be swapped to a more Noxian (if they even can make him more black and red than he already is?) color set himself, as Noxus's capital city was once his home fortress.

red hues

I see what u did there. Mordekaiser

Like the previous commenter said: Mordekaiser is a higher power than the Black Mist that came before the Shadow Isles.

His "undead-ness" is fundamentally different from Kalista/Hecarim/Thresh because he willingly gets resurrected from his bones by liches.

I can see his color scheme becoming a lot darker in his eventual VGU because of how over-the-top he is in villlainy.

Well I mean his bio talks about his armour being blackened from the pyre he was cremated, so I imagine there'll be a whole lot of black on him, at least in places.

But yeah you're spot on with the point of needing his VFX to not be Black Mist like. Morde's above that. While his powers are in the same ball park, their still different, and while visual similarities are of course a given, colouration changes are probably a good thing to cement Morde as being of a different breed to the undead of the Shadow Isles.

I always imagine Morde being like a more bulkier version of Sauron when he gets a VU. Black armor with a huge mace (and red glowing eyes of course).

Something like this but more distinctive. https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/000/569/849/large/morgan-yon-43-copy2.jpg?1443928327

I could see him being a nice hot pink. Get on that Rito.

Melledoneus3/7/2017, 6:44:19 AM6 votes

"Mordekaiser is now brown. All the dried up blood and rust on his armor are a cause of this. He also has oil dripping between his plates and his mace is cracked. And he has been balanced to be a support. Have a nice day."

I could picture him having black mist on him like Yorick. Stick with the red eyes while his shadowy soul can be seen seeping from the cracks in his armor.

Or he could be a some kind of hell fire knight in appearance. Scorched armor with red and black flames erupting from within.

I've never played Morde but I really look forward to seeing his VGU.

SkyblazeHydraX33/7/2017, 10:44:06 AM3 votes

His new lore describes his armor as being scorched by the flames upon his death. Assuming they don't change up his lore to go with the eventual VGU, I hope they do something with that. All the champions largely look clean and tidy. Having his armor look mostly scorched, ashen black would be pretty interesting.

You are correct! IMP I believe Morde deserves a "Fiora" or "Shen" level VU update. What do you think?

TheDelighted3/7/2017, 1:08:03 PM2 votes

Dunno 'bout you, but when I see morde this pops in my mind. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/3/35/Pentakill_-_Thornmail/revision/latest?cb=20140603094146

sidenote: I really wish his laugh to be huehuehuehuehuehue. Or a new skin in which every VO is replaced with huehue. Huertekaiser.

Hige3/7/2017, 6:23:21 AM2 votes

I think he WILL have some sort of blue/green particles and effects, after all, he does have those now (dragon)

The thing is that that hue, while not necessarily linked to the shadow isles, is the representation of the undead and well... Mordekaiser is definitely an undead so... it will happen, of course he's also the master of metal so his armor will probably drown the ghastly colors a bit

Prophet of Urgod3/7/2017, 9:24:29 PM1 votes

This man is correct! Give the hues the Master of Hues deserves!

TyrekGoldenspear3/6/2017, 11:19:01 PM1 votes

I think Morde's safe.

After all, they only changed Galio's colors because he's from Demacia and made in Demacia.

Morde predated the Shadow Isles.

Considering how they made the name swap to "The Iron Revanent", I think they understand the need for Metal.

Illâoi Evê Siôn3/6/2017, 11:20:45 PM1 votes

Truly black would be pretty interesting. I don't think we have anything like that in League at the moment.

xWaters3/6/2017, 11:29:59 PM1 votes

Gotta worry about Morde and talk about his VGU the day the Galio teaser is out. Why is everyone freaking out today? Even Reddit

mr Boombastic7873/7/2017, 12:01:29 AM1 votes

I can just imagine Galio and Sion having an epic battle. Only for Mordekaiser to arive to claim what is his, the imortal bastion and his old empire. only then they will know who the true enemy is. Having to stop fighting each other to fight Morde.

Big Lincoln3/7/2017, 12:30:18 AM1 votes

I'd like his armor to look darker, but in a more damaged way, since he was cremated in it, it should look more tarnished to reflect that

also plz return metal lightning spells

SchaakaKon3/7/2017, 3:57:31 AM1 votes

Iirc (and i havnt been keeping up with the lore recently) Mord is from the Shadow Isles, true, but hes not defined by the Shadow Isles (such as Kalista and Hecarim). Lorewise, he was a warlord that was collateral damage from the Shadow Isle transformation right?

What im saying is that for Mords VGU I dont want mord to be some undead/necromaner themed champion. I want to see him as the master of metal (that just happens to be undead). Mord being a cut of the mil death knight would be plain boring.

Snowplosion3/7/2017, 5:27:44 AM1 votes

I would like a black and steel-grey Morde. Just my opinion, though.

Mira Arya Enthe3/7/2017, 6:05:12 AM1 votes

Yeh, I actually hate the green ghost cliche, it is far overused. Morde needs to stay unique.

Mechakaiser3/7/2017, 6:13:40 AM1 votes

I'd gladly have a White/golden Mordekaiser if that Increased his ms...

Now seriously we want our Lord of the dark arts Riot, the FINE dark arts...

And give him more ms

Oh, and give a good support for my next pro... Can I write down a list?

Sahn Uzal3/7/2017, 8:43:13 AM1 votes

I could see the Metal-y-blue he's got going on right now work, but yeah, I do agree with ya

Raid Boss Morde3/7/2017, 8:44:36 AM1 votes

I'd love it if Mordekaiser kept the silver, metallic-look, but got spooky green VFX for his skills. I love the spooky green (my favorite color) theme of the Shadow Isles, but I don't like playing any of them besides Morde, who is just silver...

Oleandervine3/7/2017, 1:13:36 PM1 votes

If you want to argue theme, Mordekaiser isn't a revenant. He's a lich. A revenant is basically a proto-vampire in medieval Europe. They are corpses that are believed to have the soul within, and they spread disease and feast on the blood of the living. Mordekaiser is none of this, he's very much the classic DnD/WoW style of Lich, who has a phylactery (his skeleton), and utilizes dark magics to stay alive and manage his affairs in the world.

Stars Shaper3/7/2017, 1:14:32 PM1 votes

Considering that the in-lore description fits really well the current Mordekaiser I think he isn't at risk of such major visual changes.
