Can I request a non-eternum skin for Cass in the next year?

Look, I am glad that is getting a new skin. It's time.

However while that particular skin is unique, from the results I really don't think the line is a great fit with cass. I'm sure you guys did your best, there just wasn't enough to work with to get that theme onto that champion. There's some champs who might look good with it, Lissandra may work, Kass might work (you guys didn't accidentally the wrong kass because homophones did you), it should fit for aatrox, but Cass isn't one of them.

Anyways, I'd really hate for Cass not to get a skin for another 4 years because the last one was riot gambling on a questionable fit that didn't work.

While riot needs players to buy skins to keep making more skins for those champs, the other side of the coin is that for players to buy skins they have to resonate. There's just not enough resonation here. If you guys wanted to do a crimson cass skin, it seems like there would have been more appropriate themes. If you wanted a black cass, it seems like there would have been more appropriate themes (like pentakill). If cass was a champ who got 2 skins a year, it wouldn't look any better, but at least we'd know there'd be another one soonish. As it is, we don't so that feels like riot took an unnecessary risk.

I mean look at Championship Ashe, which was announced at the same time. That skin looks good on her. I'm thinking of buying it. It's got a nice design and the colors fit ashe. That recall animation is 10x better. Ashe's ingame face looks like Ashe and not Aatrox with black lipstick.
