Is Ebonmaw, the Terror of Zaun, non-canonical at this point?

If you've played the old Twisted Treeline, you'll remember this dragon before Vilemaw took his place. Ever since then, nothing's ever been said about Ebonmaw in the story.

It'd be a crying shame if he's been classified as "ret-gone", so I think he needs to be added to the Zaun lore scene at some point. Maybe something along the lines of this (it's a rough draft, so take appropriate salt):

Ebonmaw was once a feared fire dragon who roosted near Zaun for nearly a hundred years before being slain by dragon hunters. His remains were brought to Zaun, where scientists planned to reconstruct and reanimate him using the same process that had been used on Urgot. But after augmenting the dragon's body, when they used necromancy to revive him, he broke free of the scientists' control and killed them all. Now more dangerous than ever, Ebonmaw roosts on the tallest skyscrapers of Zaun, daring anyone to challenge him.

I know we got Aurelion Sol recently, but who says we can't get a Ridley-like dragon at some point? It'd be an ideal Champion to have a HEAT mechanic like Rumble.

A dragon, tied to one of the most industrially developed nations on Valoran. Amazing combination. I believe Riot should include the Terror of Zaun in their lore again, in any shape or form, at least.

I doubt it, if you look closely, Vilemaw has Ebonmaws remaina laying around somewhere in is lair. He's dead.

Also if he is the terror of Zaun, why did he take residence on the Shadow Isles?

Sadly I doubt it now. Same with the Dominion lore with Kalamanda and all the squabbling over its ownership, which was my favourite event in the old lore :/

As a big fan of the old Twisted Treeline, and as a dragon fanatic, (and a fan of Ridley) I really like this idea. An undead dragon is really cool. Furthermore, it would be really easy to release skins for him! Black dragon, skeletal dragon, mecha dragon, etc.!

I'm unsure how his kit would look like, but considering he's an undead fire dragon, it would be interesting to see him mix undeath with hellfire. And heck, considering how dragons are a mix of tabky, mystic, and physical power, make him a hybrid that gets tankier when played correctly.

I have an idea for a passive:

Unholy flames: casting abilities and auto attacking causes the immediate region around Ebonmaw to be coated with unholy flames, stacking up to X times. Ebonmaw steals % health (scaling multiplicatively with stacks in the zone, AD, and AP) from everyone within the flames if both he and the enemies are within them. Additionally gains 5% damage reduction and tenacity per enemy champion within the flames.

Damn...having a dragon live in the highest tower of your town would sure have a big effect on the populace.

Namely in why they don't leave.

I'm conflicted about having an old objective suddenly becoming a champion. The concept is great but something about it sorta weirds me out.

If anything I do want peace of mind about some of the older characters who haven't been touched lore-wise since retcon. Or we can pretend the retcon isn't real and the Institute of War still exists.
