Soo.. We got the same story in three packages. A cinematic, a short story and her shortenec lore all tell the same tale of a spooooky spirit of vengeance. Is that all? Seriously? Can't we get like some background information on the SI or her origin story?
I'm guessing it's another "We're going to keep that secret for a while to build up suspense/get you to ask questions" thing like where Gnar's Rage gene comes from, who actually killed Yasuo's master, who of Azir's family survived to pass on his lineage to Sivir, etc., etc.

Keep hoping, but don't wait with breath abated else you might suffocate. Their presence is essentially Carnival who shows up to shoot the breeze, and Jaredan/Ruunan/Narsil/(the rest of the ones without a public face) just stand on the sidelines and hope that one day we will agree with their decision.

Kalista seems like she'll be in the same boat as Aatrox or Anivia, demi-gods of runeterra but they'll never really expand upon them.
Sounds to me that who ever betrayed her hasn't seen justice yet, maybe that's the point of her collecting souls of people who call upon her.
maybe she is building an army to help her kill the people who betrayed her.
Actually we know a fair bit, not directly related to Kalista, but if you put pieces together from other roles you get some info on SI.
Mainly it was a beautiful place before the Ruined King attempted to break the barrier between life and death, if the Rune Wars are still cannon it happened back then. It's possible Kalista was following the Ruined King but got betrayed in his attempt to break the barrier, which killed her but because the barrier has been broken she was revived shortly after.
Who murdered Kalista? Was it Kat? Since she has a record of assassinating many people.
why is that such a bad thing? We have already so many clear thinking characters,why is it suddenly so bad if one of them is focused on only one thing? It is one character out of over 100,its
And her past can be something they can expand upon,while she can still play a role in future stories.
