Jhin Can Get 3 Skins in One Year, Yi Can Get 2 Skins in One Year, and Popular Champs Can Get +

How is it that a champion like Jhin can get three skins in one year, Yi can get two skins in one year, and the same popular champions get more imaginative skins and be part of amazing skin lines.

  1. Still no Illaoi skin this year.
  2. Still no Sol skin this year.
  3. Still no Taliyah skin this year.
  4. Still no amazing Karma skin that puts her in a new theme. Winter Wonder Karma really did nothing but add terrible ice particles to an already bland champion.
  5. Still no Liss skin.
  6. Still no Heimerdinger skin.
  7. Still no tentacle/octopus Nami skin.
  8. You know it would be nice to see a good quality skin for Shaco and Akali.

Yet we all know what will happen:

  1. A Snow Day Jinx skin that is 1350RP.
  2. Snow Day Ezreal.
  3. Snow Day Ahri.
  4. Snow Day Lux.
  5. Snow Day Ekko.

Explain to me how you are being more diverse and fair in terms of your skin selection? I see the same f****ng champions getting the same high dollar skins and creative skin lines while other ones get ignored year after year. Now you are on this kick of giving the same champions multiple amounts of skins in one year. Two Yi skins, three Jhin skins and skins in amazing fashion for the same popular champions. Here I am telling the same group of Developers what everyone else is saying.

DO MORE FOR CHAMPIONS YOU CLAIM TO LOVE BUT ACTUALLY DON'T GIVE.

  1. illaoi has already been announced to get a new skin and there was even a vote for which one.

  2. Sol isn't that popular.

  4. karma got a challenger skin which was after the winter skin. conqueror.

  5. no one plays liss.

  6. same as 5. (maybe just a little high playerbase not enough to warrent a frontlining skin.)

  7. nami recently got a skin and then wolf chose to make skt nami. so she got 2 skins in a short amount of time.

  8. maybe with shaco sure, but didn't akali recently get the shushi skin with the rest of that batch, along with her not being that popular since her rework.

Riot is a still a business and like every other business that wants to make money they will cater to the majority. If you want riot to focus more on lesser champs, get the playerbase to play those champs so riot has an incentive to give them skins.

It is natural for far more popular champions to get skins a lot more frequently. But the "no one plays x champion" and "this champion is not popular" arguments are no justification for champions to stay without a single skin in 3 years and over. Without any intention to be rude but with this kind of "champion is not played" logic we might as well remove said champion. What of a difference will it make?

For you to take that statement as literally as that means you're just looking for whatever argument you can.

You know when i said that i meant that there is a very small player base for said champion that doesn't warrent it nearly as much focus as any other champ.

How often do you see people wanting skins for like.... Aatrox in comparison to like... ahri?

Now take my question and look at it from a business standpoint, who will you cater to, how will you make more money? You're going to choose ahri.

I know what you meant but I wonder why did you take mine so literally? I am not here to argue for the sake of argue. I am here to understand why do you think that some champions have to be left without a skin for over 3 years. One or two years is understandable for unpopular champions but three and over is questionable. We wouldn't be seeing so much rise in skin complaining threads otherwise.

I understand if Riot wants to make money out of skins. That's their job and that's how they make money. But if I had to be in Riot shoes I would show my respects to the fanbase. I would make an Ahri and Shen skin instead of Ahri and Ezreal. This way I earn money but also show I care for the community.

It's a weird thing this 'popularity' thing. For while it's true, and in Jhin's case it makes sense. Yet, this is Vayne's first skin to the public since 2015 (her Hextech skin is locked off to most people) and her popularity is always high, 20% pickrate high.

If we go by popularity, she would have had 3 this year, 2 the year before. Vi's popularity/pickrate is less than Shen's at the moment. He hasn't had a skin since 2013 and that was an eSports one so according to many, it doesn't count. :P

Over saturate a market with skins for 1 champ and people who like the champ will not buy all 3 because why would they? they choose the one they like and buy that only. Yet champs without regular skins are guaranteed sales because they lack skins and not only will fans of them buy it but others might buy them too increasing their pickrate and therefore their popularity.

I personally don't have a problem when a champion gets 3 skins in 1 year. I wouldn't care even if they got 10 as long as the other champions, the unpopular ones, got skins too.

I find it strange why the unpopular champions are the ones who are the hardest to think a satisfying theme of? After the upheaval with those skin complaining threads Riot showed how fast they can make good skins for all those unpopular champions, like Cassio and Viktor. They can do it. It's just a little bit sad people have to make so many threads and beg :/

I agree with you, Jhin can have as many skins as he wants as long as the skins are distributed nicely. For many it doesn't seem the case. Riot have had to ask us to vote for a new Illoai skin. Why? Why not just make one of them and then 7 months later make the other and release that. Why did it take 2 years to do a poll for a skin for a champion they should have been having ideas for instantly after release? This poll means that the result is only just in and in that turn they then have to work on it so don't expect the skin until next year.

The theme thing doesn't make sense though sometimes when Shen fits both Eternal Sword and Project, got neither. Cassio and Viktor can easily fit Program skin line, Heimer and Rumble would fit that skin line too.

Weird thing about the popularity thing as well, Zed. Zed is a popular champion, has very few skins. He's like one of the poster characters for the game too. It's odd.

Yorick Viktor Cassiopeia Zyra and Rengar all got skins this year. I think Riot's doing an alright job finding a medium between giving popular champion skins and giving skins to less popular ones.

To be fair Lissandra got the impressive Program skin literally last year which is VERY imaginative and creative. I see an improvement. We got Cassio, Yorick, Viktor skins and soon we will get an Illaoi skin. I'm sure there will be much more. Also Taliyah will get the SSG skin and it's very likely that she will receive a regular skin next year, too. So at least 2 skins for Taliyah in a year.
