Now that the Shadow Isles are getting lore, Riot can take full advantage of this opportunity.

Recently, Riot has released lores for several of the most influential Shadow Isles champions, and, to be perfectly honest, they're better than anything else I could ever come up with. They are amazing, and I don't know how anybody couldn't like the new lore, which is a refreshing turn from the old one. Regardless, if you haven't read them, here's a link to the thread containing them: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/gH9WcAlj-long-lores-for-karthus-hecarim-mordekaiser-and-thresh-have-arrived

Now that that's out of the way, here's an idea I had that could prove to be a really good one if Riot takes it. Now that we've learned what each ghastly, ghoulish Shadow Isles champion was before their transformation, Riot should make skins to show us what they were like. I'm talking legendary tier skins, or 1350 with different voice filters to hear their human voices untainted by undeath. Also, it'd make for good skins for champions we don't see having much variety in their skins that make us think, "Wow, now THAT is pretty darn cool." (Excepting Arcade Hecarim, of course)

This can make players happy, let us see more into the Blessed Isles, and make Riot some moolah.

Here are some ideas I came up with. Feel free to add any or suggest changes. Also Spoilers ALERT! READ THE UPDATED LORE BEFORE CONTINUING!!!*

Hecarim: Once a renowned member of the King's Iron Order, Hecarim grew a blood lust that was only whetted by battle. This darkness growing within him caused him to betray his leader in battle, leaving him for dead and taking his place at the head of the Iron Order.

What I'm thinking for this skin is a pre-centaur Hecarim that carries his weapon into battle with his usual silver, gleaming armor that looks like it came from a more righteous Demacia. As explained in the lore, he had a war horse as well, so he could speak his lines and sound effects from his horse could be for things like his E and ultimate. He would have a different VO, since I don't want to hear a living human say that "the living will fall." He wasn't evil, just a bit hungry for battle that turned him to malicious acts.

Q: Hecarim swishes around his weapon, but instead of the screeching metal it will be a Swoosh that only makes a sound when hitting an enemy.

W: Instead of doing the weird necromantic circle thing, he could say something like "We must push forward!" and morale boosts, healing him. Stupid, I know, but the best alternative I have in mind is that he pulls a Dovahkiin and randomly starts healing himself with one hand.

E: Hecarim's war horse neighs, the clomping of hooves becoming faster and he does a call that makes his horse go faster like "Hey!" or "Hyah!" When he hits his target instead of his horse humping his target (I'm sorry, it really looks like that) he holds his spear out and rams them with it.

R: Instead of Hecarim screaming and ghosts swarm in going "blargh, die!" Hecarim will charge forward, shouting the command to charge to his troops, who show up momentarily and charge forward with him. It wound sound more natural, as men shouting and horses clopping on the earth.

Thresh: He was in charge of a vault of evil artifacts of evil, including the skull of Mordekaiser. It drove him crazy after a while, and he became sadistic because reasons. Insanity is just weird like that.

This skin could be a 1350 skin without the same lines more or less without a filter. A less ghastly version of Thresh but an equally sadistic version. I mean, this guy had all the time he wanted to torture a warlock who healed wounds through magical enhancement for a long time, so I'm pretty sure things escalated quickly with this plaything of his.

Passive: Thresh collects souls as a thing, because it's core to his character. But instead of souls, how about he collects orbs of magic? He was meant to safeguard magical artifacts and enigmas, and maybe some artifact was a jar of these wisp-like beings that escaped. I don't know, I need a better idea for this one.

Q: Thresh uses his hook (That's less green) to capture his foe, but he'll be more like, "Tresspasser! I'll have fun with you..."

W: Same old lantern deal, except maybe when his ally comes to him he'll say something along the lines of, "you're safe with me..."

E: Nothing to say here, more human particles.

R: Thresh uses a tome to close off escape with magic (whoo, spooky), and he'll make it clear it's his job to punish those who intervenes in his work.

Kalista: Was a general of the Ruined King, went on a quest to find the Queen a cure for her disease. Kalista was betrayed, but she overall was a pretty nice lady until she died. I mean, I'd be pretty mad too.

This skin could be 1350, or legendary, anyone's pick. Might be too soon for a legendary, but whatever. She'd be elegant, less blue, and more kind in her words. But she would make it clear she was still a force to be reckoned with against her enemies.

Passive: Instead of the whole "soul-oath" stuff, how about she places a magical spear and says something like, "This spear shall bind us to one another, and together we shall be victorious as we look out for one another."

Q: "Suffer" and "Weep" are pretty harsh, so we could add things like "Fall" and "For the King!"

W: Cool stuff, I guess.

E: This wasn't a good idea. I didn't think this through.

R: Ok, this idea sucks. Back to the drawing board.

Ok, I'm going to stop making you waste your time reading. Just answer the poll.

TL;DR: I suck at making up ideas, but generally the Shadow Isles champions could be made into skins of what they were before they were horror story material.

Wait... Human Elise Skin?

I can image it:

Passive: Summons little babies that follow her

Q) Neurotoxin: She spits to her enemies -Venomous Bite: Bites his opponent

W) Volatile Spiderling: Summons a kamikaze baby. -Skittering Frenzy: nothing special here

E) Cocoon: She puts a wool vest on her enemy that stuns him -Rappel: She jumps

R) Spider Form: She start walking in four legs like that girl from the Exorcist. https://girlsguidetozday.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/the-exorcist.jpg

Arclight Karthus where? If Varus's arclight skin is actually his form before corruption, then Karthus can be in mortal human form too. He can probably say the same things since he's obsessed with death, but hey, death doesn't have to be dark.

Angels too, are messengers of death.

Otherwise all those non-"spooky" forms of such champs would be pretty darn cool.

The problem I'd see with hecarim is that turning him into a guy who rides a horse would probably change his silhouette too much,so I doubt we'll ever see that.

Morde used the same armor the whole time,so I'd say he wouldn't look very different even if he was alive.

Kalista still looks rather human,so I think it would be possible to give this as a cheaper skin to her,but I wouldn't expect her abilities to be adjusted to the skin(aside from some skill effects)

However I'd say the best choice would be thresh. Unlike kalista we have pretty much no idea how he looked before he became undead(aside from him being pale) his personality didn't change,so it wouldn't even need a new VO.

I don't know how anybody couldn't like the new lore

well, for all it is - it still doesn´t really fix what has been broken with the retcon:

  • the stories told could still have happend with the old Institute in place (so that giant void in a lot of champions lores could have been avoided)
  • as gameplay&story are not tied in any way they are basically just a series of stories that don´t influence the immersion when playing...which is just wasted potential
  • though the stories are well written for the most part, they still are somewhat clinging to cliches a tad much for my taste - given it´s a dark&serious world (so some of the charme of the old lore really is lost)

so all in all the narrative-department didn´t learn of any of their mistakes, but sadly they apparently have sitten it all out and are good again now. turns out the studies where right and mankind has a shorter attention-span than goldfish.
