Prediction for the identity of the female darkin, as Varus stated he is looking for his "sister"

Irelia. She's getting a vgu after Swain. Unless they create a completely new champion before that, Irelia fits the bill for a Darkin-wielder - though in her case, she might (or even should) be in control of the darkin weapon similar to what Kayn is attempting to do with Rhaast.

She has always been portrayed as an extremely skilled warrior with a strange, magical weapon controlled through her will. The Darkin are all (to date) promiscient warriors - and always weapons with unusual qualities.

While i do not play Irelia myself, i still like the character - and i hope that, if she is in fact the next Darkin, she is either dominating the weapon or it is willingly obeying her. I can't think of many champions better fit to be a master over a Darkin, and i feel her playerbase would feel betrayed if they lost the identity of the champion they love.

EDIT: Separate from my theory on Irelia, i am sort of hoping they are filling out a full team here. We have Aatrox for the top lane, Kayn in the jungle and Varus as a marksman. Morgana would make sense as a support Darkin, though her current iteration does not wield any physical weapons - neither does Tahm Kench, the other champion frequently suspected of being potential Darkin.

Now that we know the Darkin are bound to weapons, Morgana seems less of a suitable candidate.

BUT! And here's where we put on our tin foil hats.

Varus was sealed by a queen in golden armor. League of Legends feature two champions in golden armor, one of them in full plate, waiting for a VGU and not tied to another lore act: Kayle.

This brings Morgana back into the picture. This, to me, seems like a PERFECT opportunity for their eventual reworks - as Riot has confirmed these will be recieving dual reworks simultaneously released.

This does not give any indication of who the fifth and final Darkin might be. I seem to remember a Rioter confirming the Darkin consist of four males and one female, and as such - if they are to fill out a complete roster - i am hoping for a new mid laner. (Or, if this fourth Darkin is a mid laner - a new support.) so that all five Darkin can be played on the same team effectively.

Bonus point for the skin potential.

If they did do that, it would make an interesting dynamic. You have one Darkin dominating his host (Aatrox), one Darkin dominated by their host (Irelia), one working together with his host(s) (Varus), and then one fighting with his host for control (Kayn/Rhaast)

Don't know where the 5 would fit in that though

I personally want the female darkin to be a completely new champion not a reworked champion that we have seen before.

I don't want Kayle or Morgana changed in this way. Not only is it basically removing their race from the lore but also lazily changing them to be FAR beyond what they were before. Also omits the potential for newer Darkin's to be added later if they are the 5 and not only that if they wanted to add more later they would have to do another retcon to the lore to add more Darkins. All a bit much.

Plus the woman in Golden Armour could easily just be related to Shurima. According to the wikipedia page on Darkins, there it mentions that they were defeated by 'The Ascended' at the end of the Darkin War. I'm not sure where the wikia page got that information but if that was the lore there is no reason to change that part plus if an Ascended was responsible for their demise and the remain 5 were sealed and stored away, 1 would have definitely been in sight of the Ascended to make sure they don't escape.

Of course the Ancient Ascended couldn't have foreseen Azir...

I kinda doubt it. Changing Irelia into a darkin would be either an extreme change in character(even bigger than the one for Varus or any other champion so far) and turning her weapon into a dormant darkin would feel like a waste of a darkin(also why would she be in shurima then?).

Though I could see how her weapon might be a purified darkin ala shadow assassin kayn.

I think it is far more likely for us to get a new darkin champion next year as there'll be likely 1 or maybe even 2 champions between Swain and Irelia.

"Every fiber of her being sang with ancient power," after Cassiopeia turned the lowlife into stone. Cassiopeia is Varus sister, one of the 5 Darkins. After all, she is cursed from a serpent like weapon.

It would be the third Ionian Darkin oO

Kayn grew in Noxus but he is an Ionia character aswell.

But that's changing the character completely like making a new champion, Varus was already in darkin style anyway

Kayle Morgana

They are winged immortals from a nearly extinct race of powerful immortal beings who will decide the fate of Runeterra.

Aatrox Kayn Varus + Kayle Morgana = 5

I honestly thought this myself.

So, first I thought that Kayle could be the golden armored and fire haired Queen, with Morgana being the female Darkin. But then I looked at who’s to be updated and I saw Irelia and I thought she might become one. But idk, it’ll feel weird. Plus, the Darkin was sealed in Shurima, so maybe some Shuriman female champ?
