Will there be other vehicles for lore? Comic books, animated shorts etc.
I was just thinking about how World of Warcraft branched its story out to other forms of media - stuff like the Ashbringer comics, the novels that come out before and after expansions to bring the people who are interested in the story up to speed etc.
I curious if Riot has considered following suit? There's concern that people still won't follow-up on the lore if you separate them out like that, but I think Blizzard had this thinking - the people who are interested in the story will read the story, those who just play the game will just play the game. They can focus on the more immediate plotlines in the WoW that the players have some agency in, and not have to focus on the backstory as much.
But that's for WoW. LoL arguably, does not need to try to integrate that much story into the game itself. We don't even use factions, when Runeterra itself should be in a state of war. Without the Summoners now, there's even less story explanation for how the game actually happens - there is no reason for many sworn enemies to be on the same team. So the gameplay and story at this point are really far from being integrated just from the get-go of having ALL champions up for selection from the beginning.
In that case, if you push the lore and backstory into more concrete media, like books, and consolidate them into the new 'lore'. That would bring everyone up to speed, and we can get definite answers on a lot of things.
Unless everything is in such a state of flux that this is impossible at this point in time.
