Let's Discuss This Again, Why Not Release The Lore On The Forums?

You release promo material on the website. You release stories like Rek'Sai and Sion on the website. If you're having tech issues for the bios, then fine. We can wait, but why not release them on the forums like you've done for Kalista, Azir, and Xerath? Make a sticky, add links to the other stories, and update the "meta" thread when you have new stories to release. We don't care about perfection, we just want something to talk about again.

So Biolumenescence actually spoke about this a few days ago. Keep in mind Bio's not a part of the narrative team, but it's an interesting read.

I'm trying to write about how longer lore was written for a while (like RekSai and Sion) but that releasing things like that (like Azir, etc.) on forums probably wasn't very successful. The forums, as a way of releasing stuff, is a pretty crappy method. The forums are a small, but very interesting, corner of the way that players interact with League - most players never go there, and then if you divide it up by language and region, that proportion seems even smaller. Posting lore on them seems like an easy win to the people here - but maybe it sucks for the people who would want to read about it, but never come here? Or people in China or Poland who don't even know this place exists. Waiting for a way of getting it to more people via the game probably starts to seem really attractive - as unforgivable it is to the people here who have been waiting for so long.

I imagine Riot's Narrative Department is sensitive to criticism and negative feedback. The truth is, the retcon is an unpopular move amongst the vast majority of people who care about the lore andnegligible to those who don't. This means even if they do release the lore, they're not going to get much praise at all since it'll be drowned out by the outcry of 'BRING BACK THE PRE-RETCON LEAGUE'.

And Rioters FEEDS off that positive energy. They need that PRAISE.

But chances are, they won't get it. Heck, we still don't have a solid list of who is in the Narrative Department. Stuff like this has been done via detective work and even that's shaky at best since they seem to be in flux.

That internal department stability, with a fear of getting doxx'ed or harassed or cyber bullied, and a culture presumably built around excellence AND terror of failing and you've got a team too afraid to do anything...

...much less publish anything...
