How Riot Game....can become Riot Games and expand on lore for League of Legends
**TLDR= Riot can create unique individual games based on their brand of already created characters. complete with cinematics, unique gameplay, and voice acting. This would expand lore while also helping them create new content outside of league. **
So its 4am, I can't sleep and I'm in the depths of youtube and reading up on lore at the same time. So I realized a few things so far tonight. Riot honestly has a ton of potential to create a brand and identity that expands even further beyond League of Legends. They have created not only characters that fit within the scope of league, but characters are actually memorable and awesome. A lot of the champions have huge depth to their back story and great functioning identities. Examples that come to people's minds are Yasuo (the unforgiven), Riven (the exile), Azir (emperor of the sands), etc. There are a ton more than those I mentioned, but I was thinking about it for a bit and realized why doesn't Riot create games using their own characters as the centerpiece. They could expand on lore of runeterra and said champion, while also creating a new unique and different game that doesn't have eto even be a MOBA.
I am confident that people would play a well made game with great voice acting/storyline based around Yasuo. Could it be a hack and slash? A pseudo rpg? the possibilities are endless, but the idea is there. Could we have a game that shows you the bitterness between noxus and demacia focusing on Lux/Garen/Jarvan IV vs Darius/Swain/Leblanc/Katarina? I could see that being a straight up multiple perspective JRPG with tons of replay value. The basic point I'm getting at is I think it would be amazing if Riot created games using their own characters as the brand. There's nothing wrong with creating entirely new characters either of course, but they already have so much there that simply isn't expanded upon. A legend of zelda type game based around Ezreal's explorer mindset, a platform adventure using Ekko's timetravel mechanics and general cleverness, a creation based game based around heimerdinger and his workshop, a bounty hunting based game around Sivir, the possibilities to me are endless. And while not all league characters have the most interesting lore/back story, the ones who do could very well have their own games and have very interesting stories/gameplay in those games. I honestly could see with the quality Riot does pump out with cinematics these games being top notch and being popular even to those who do not play league of legends, and possibly making even more people curious about league of legends.
Now I'm sure Riot has thought of this before, and I'm sure they have their reasons. Primarily I have heard them say time and again that they want to invest into League of Legends and make sure it is the best game possible, which I will NOT argue with. Companies have limited money to spend and for Riot to choose to put all their Eggs in the League basket is a risky, but honorable venture on their part because it creates a premier product that we all enjoy to the fullest because it is has so many resources allocated towards it. I will never argue that mindset as I love league of legends first and foremost. This idea just came to me and I thought it would be cool to see the characters expanded upon in their own unique games with full cinematics, voice acting, and unique gameplay.
