Honestly, Lore just reminds me of bad fanfic
The more they rewrite it, the more it comes off as some teen angst rehash with little regard to established characters.
"Here's this nice person. They're nice because they're atoning for killing." Cliche, but rational.
"Here's this evil person. They're evil because they did something nice once." This is the very output I'm reading every time I subject myself to lore anymore. It doesn't mesh, the reason is usually some giant plothole with no actual fix. The fix to this one being something like; "because someone betrayed them every time they did more nice things in general, giving them trust issues." It still doesn't add up though, because that doesn't make them evil, just misguided with trust issues. A character's moral compass is not functionally damaged from event like that, just off-center, giving them personality allowance to do some less-than nice things.
Honestly, there's too many writers and very few cohesive ideas. Lore is given to the community as puzzle pieces, but the writers feel like they lack the ability to actually fill the missing ones, instead cutting and gluing them together. All the pieces are nice and square in a sense that they chopped off the tabs and slots. The end shape is maybe together from a certain perspective, but doesn't really paint the picture on the box.
