Pantheon VU Discussion

DISCLAIMER: Sorry guys my Imgur links are not working for some reason. I'll attach all the photos anyway. Hopefully you guys can understand what you're looking at.

EDIT: Alright I got em to work now

As a HHHUUUGGE Pantheon fan I have been eagerly waiting for his VU. Yes, I know others need it more, but we can still discuss this for when his time does come.

Genreal Look I feel that he should look more original, like an actual character from Runeterra, not from the movie 300. Now listen, before you guys pull out the pitchforks and torches I know full well there are a lot of people attached to the whole "spartan" trope. Thats fine, i get it. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, so thats why I suggest The ChampUp team consider giving him a traditional skin. That way you can satisfy the players who are attached to his old look. And with that out the way you guys can get real original and creative with his design without feeling held back. Pantheon has great potential to really flesh out and tap into what MT. Targon is. The armor King (IronStylus) can show us what he's got. When taking on his VU you guys can ask yourselves: "What really is Mt. Targon?" "What are its themes?" "What is its style?" "Can we tell more about the Rakkor?" "What do their people look like?" "What do the warriors looke like?" "What does there most elite warrior, the badass of all badasses, the beast withe the awesome helmets and sick armor (Pantehon obviously) actually look like?" "What do these epic weapons and shields, that he wields, look like?

Probably not this heavily armored. Like the design of the shoulders, arms, helmet... you get the idea. Just getting the ball rolling http://i.imgur.com/nUbZ1mE.jpg

W: Aegis of Zeonia I noticed you guys (Riot) are shying away from the floaty shields particle. Great! I like what you did with Garen's old W. It now is a sheen/glow that makes much more sense.

My idea is that you do a similar treatment with Pantheon's passive. Have the shield open up (look even cooler) and glow/sheen for gameplay/clarity reasons. Leona's shield does a similar thing and I feel that is an added bonus of consistency between the two warriors From Mt. Targon who wield relics

Pantheon's passive activated http://i.imgur.com/K9LWl3G.png

E: Heartseeker Strike Instead of his wrists moving, I thought maybe he could thrust his whole arm forward. Visually it can look so fast that you dont get a clear look a his arm while performing the ability. Think of something like E. Honda

R: Mandrop Grand Skyfall

When he channels he should like he's really charging up. Like crouch, get lower, and lower closer to launch. Then rockets up like a Superman. But also remember that the landing is gotta be epic as hell

IronStylus I eagerly await your opinion. And pretty much everyone from the ChampUp team. I would love to get all your feedback and if I may be bold, eventually this thread can garner so much ideas, feedback, and material to be used as a guide for when The Artisan of War finally does get his full blown VU.

Overall i think Pantheons "spartan"-feeling is basically what makes his character. You see every champ has basically this unique archetype going on(ok maybe some older champs are struggling with that) and in pantheons case it is being a spartan warrior.

Doesn't mean however that he has to look like he's from 300,I'd welcome some changes that make him look unique, but the spartan-feeling is core to his character and should be kept in some way.

Yes! To be honest Im not that attached to the whole spartan look myself. League is unique enough to have its own style instead of borrowing from other mythos.

One of Pantheon's visual trademarks is his shadowed face. I know right now it's just all black, but I think they can keep his facial identity sort of a mystery still, even in his VU, but maybe instead of shadowing his entire face, they could just do a sort of "Judge Dredd"-esque cover-up, exposing everything from the mouth down, but covering the nose and cheekbones, and shadowing the eyes. I think this can lead to some cool skin concepts as well.

Just a bit of my own opinion on what direction would be neat to take him in.

Some Judge Dredd fanart for reference. Chose this one because of the pose, and how similar it is to one Pantheon would make. I could just imagine how cool a "Judge" line of skins would.

I like the idea of a VU that better reflects Mount Targon and Pantheon's lore, but I am not a fan at all of losing one of the precious few examples of egalitarian fanservice. So long as Ruthless Pantheon keep showing the same amount of skin, I'll be happy.

Would be cool if the helmet would be left to cover his face. I think Pantheon is one of those helmet guys.

Can't agree more, He should be brought more in line with Leona, Also any reduction in references to the work of that deplorable bigot is a plus,

Nice ideas man. Building on what you said for Mandrop, maybe they can show some effect on the area around Pantheon when he launches and lands as well? Something along the lines of what happens when the Hulk or Superman or Goku launch and land. Cracked terrain or dust, rocks flying outwards would look pretty awesome.

I like this thread. Pantheon

I would compare Targon to Mount Olympus from Classical Mythology, with a little cold mixed in, since it's so far up. Maybe the tip top peak where the Solari hang out is snowy, while the rest of it is just in the clouds.

The Rakkor are very much spartans. They live and breathe war. But unlike, say, the Barbarian tribes of the Freljord, they don't rely on unbridled rage and power to win wars. Rakkorans are more than warriors - They're soldiers. They're masters of their craft. If Tryndamere was a Fury Warrior in WoW, then Pantheon would be the Arms Warrior (Weapons aside).

I thought of a cool idea to maybe make them more similar to spartans but making them unique in their own way. Every Rakkoran carries three weapons - A Shield, a Spear, and a Short Sword. The Shield is the most important weapon and bears the family crest. The spear is the most used weapon, and the sword is the side arm. A major sign of disrespect in Rakkoran society would be brandishing your spear and sword to fight an enemy - You're basically saying they aren't worthy for your greatest weapon, the shield.

There also needs to be a touch of magic. The weapons and armor are said to be 'Relic weapons' passed down through the families. This could explain a few things, like Pantheon's glowing eyes, and how his spear comes back whenever he throws it. Adding a method of magical enchantment to their weapons, combined with their extreme weapon mastery and tactical finesse, puts them on par with other champions who are super powered, or wield magic directly.

That looks neat, like Kain from FF4

Mount Targon Is so weird... A mix between the cold environment of Freljord and the Sun cult of Shurima, with an influence of warriors of Rome/Greek (... and even Medieval ones?)

Yes to all of this! I hope he gets some attention soon! Can we please get a better response from Riot? Anything that at least gives us a hint as to what you guys are gonna do?Pantheon

Well,to me,Pantheon has always been a badass mofo.He is a PARAGON of a BATTLE driven tribe. How badass is this? He didn't become the paragon because of his intelligence or promises. He became the paragon because he's the toughest warrior in a tribe that worships battles and glory!

He is a battle hardened warrior and his design should not only reflect that, but also reflect how he's a paragon. His armor should look suitable for a high ranking warrior, while also showing signs of countless battles.
