Am I the only one who finds VGU news to be the most exciting news?
I love me some VGUs.
Love everything about them

I think ChampUp has been kicking arse and taking names, then gently returning those names and then kicking arse again.
pls vgu sejuani into a juggernaut
Why? Tank fits her perfectly fine, and to change that would be completely against her current playerbase and playstyle.
tank mains are ok with stealing sion and Poppy and soon galio
so hypocritical tbh
Wrong.
Sion's and Poppy's only kits stole their themes. The VGU's gave them what they were meant to be. So the tank mains (are there such people? Lol) took what was their in the first place.
two hyper carries reworked into mega tanks really makes sense. not like you could just change the '''lore''' which happened anyway and depicted both of them as fighters lmfao xd

Those two had identity issues that conflicted Gameplay and Theme, so they looked back to what the original theme was for those people, and they built upon. Galio has the same issue, he's a mess of themes and needs to be pinned down to one exactly, so an interesting/healthier kit can be made.
sion is so easy to outplay that the only time he was relevant was when his base damage was hilariously overtuned
poppy has only ever existed as God tier or trash
not healthy at all

Ok, buddy.
Yes, it makes perfect sense for the 'Undead Juggernaut' and the yordle with Diplomatic Immunity as an ult to become mega tanks.
Diplomatic immunity: For For 6 / 7 / 8 seconds, Poppy is immune to any damage and abilities from enemies other than her target.
Poppy deals 20 / 30 / 40 % increased physical and magical damage to the marked target.
Don't forget the passive which allowed her to become nigh-immune to any damage that is any form of burst or just high numbers.
Don't forget the passive which allowed her to become nigh-immune to any damage that is any form of burst or just high numbers.
No, it halved damage that exceed 10% of her health.
Incoming damage that's gonna deal 12% of health? Damage above 10% is halved, so now it deals 11%.
Veigar's gonna ult her for 100% of her health? That's reduced to 55% (10% + (1/2)x90%).
So dots hurt her, and rapid small damage killed her well.
If i had a dollar for everytime I've had to explain things like this...
Sion was never going to be a Burstmage or whatever ya wanted him to be. His original theme he was designed under was undead warrior, and new Sion is exactly that. Same goes for Poppy, except they kept more of the damage aspect of her kit, hence why she does a lot more damage than most tanks. She's the "Can't put me down" Hero, and her kit shows that, how she asserts authority by shoving, stopping, and knocking you back to base.

Neither of Sion and Poppy were designed under being burst-assassins.
undead warrior =/= worthless meat shield that you can avoid even with 325 ms
it's ok to admit riot makes mistakes
So why is it I still manage to murder Vayne as Sion super easily?
Because you are up against a terrible Vayne.
"Worthless meat shield" that stun-locks your entire team for 4 seconds and laughs when you try to kill him.
Well, Sion could have gone with the Melee Hyper Carry aspect.
His thematic is "i'm dead so i can't feel pain". An undead, fearless, shit inducing behemoth of a tank is pretty much what he was meant to be.
AD Sion still works so his build that existed before is still there and you make some tweaks to that, like buying Hydra. His AP build is still there, doing damage with his exploding shield and Roar. So what he used to be has been preserved, just balanced around him being primarily a tank champion that would have to sacrifice that aspect to use an off-build. This used to be the case in his past as well, because only two oh his 4 abilities were ever useful by either going AP or AD.
I mean, yeah, he's still AD, but more of an AD caster than a Melee Hyper Carry. Kinda like saying that if Riot reworked Master Yi into a Darius-esque Juggernaut he'd still retain his identity because he's still AD.
To be honest, I can see the "I'm dead and feel no pain" idea going both Tank (I feel no pain so keep hitting) and Hyper Carry (fuck defenses, it doesn't hurt anyway: go all offense), so I wasn't all that surprised or upset with Riot's decision.
I personally like his new Tank identity (and my only problem with it is how telegraphed he is). However I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the same or even similar to the old one.
Similar, yes. Same, no.
Mainly because his old builds (AP and AD) were not able to be balanced properly. AP would just stun + shield you in the face and rinse, repeat until you're dead. AD would buy IE and press ult to solo 1v3 early, 1v5 late. I played a lot of AD Sion way back but i had to admit to myself that neither of his builds were correctly executed because it was always half of his kit that never had any use, either way you went. I do appreciate that he has a clear role now and that the direction Riot went with suits his thematic perfectly.
I remember using him to level up my BR smurf and often going 40/5 or some other ridiculous KDRs (and promissing myself that I'd only end the game once I had more kills than the enemy team). He was beyond broken and indeed needed the fix. IMO he was one of the greatest reworks Riot ever came up with.
But that's not to say that turning him into a melee hyper carry wouldn't be a fitting way to go in his VGU (perhabs even better than the Tank approach).
He already had much of what an Hyper Carry needed: 2 powerful offensive steroids and a defensive tool that scaled with his offensive power. Riot would need to take some of the power from those 2 things and add to some new Q and W abilities.
IMO the biggest reason why he became a Tank was because Riot was struggling with Melee Hyper Carries at the moment (and sorta still is).
Are you stupid?
that's a good question
#Hype for Galio is too damn high!!!

I can't wait for know more about my boy
. He never had rivals, neither friends. And no one lore story mentioned him.
His bio is up! Your wait is over.
Agreed
I think ChampUp has been kicking arse and taking names, then gently returning those names and then kicking arse again.
If only they kept
in
's lore, then I would be so much prouder of them ;-;
Maybe they did.
Warwick remembers a girl in the early part of his lore, and we know that his human self was trying to give up on his past as a monstrous killer. We don't know who that girl was, do we?
And if they didn't, they could still meet later.

We don't know much about Warwick pre-transformation, but what we do know is that he was a Zaunite, so there's no way he could have had any sort of interaction with Soraka without them making up something absurd. Another thing to mention, is that during the Warwick update podcast, one of them mentions that they had to make "painful decisions" right after talking about old warwicks lore, how he was buddies with Singed and wanted to eat Soraka's heart, so the heavily implies that they removed Soraka completely from his lore, and they are unlikely to interact, as neither character has any reason to leave their respective homes. I hope that something does happen, and they do interact, but from what I know about both character's current lore, it is very unlikely. :(
We're not really sure about Soraka's lore either, beyond the fact that she's got some kind of connection to the stars; there's nothing tying her anywhere in particular. Sure, she had her grove, but as Janna's lore has shown spirits (like Soraka) are not necessarily tied to any one place.
Granted, I'm assuming that Soraka's a spirit now, but given her backstory it wouldn't surprise me if she became one. Not really sure what a celestial being like her would be in the new lore, other than that.
It's very possible that Soraka is not a part of Warwick's lore anymore, but if that's the case there's nothing preventing them from meeting up again at a future point.
I can't wait for my babies Morgy and Evie to get those <3 http://imgur.com/hvDPSsr[/img] http://imgur.com/NFFg7gY[/img]
I respectfully disagree.
I have lost a lot of my mains to reworks

is that a reference to Ryze?
I like new champs, but I like VGUs more. It's great seeing them reimagined with their full potential. Can't wait for Swain's.
Honestly I'm most excited when new champion lore/stories get released.
But I'm more interested in lore than champion gameplay.
Yeah I agree
should get a VGU, but these
come first
No, you're not. I like VGUs way more than new champion releases and, tbh, I wouldn't mind at all if Riot focused on the former more than the latter. There are so many champions in desperate need for a rework, whether big or small.
This. So much this.
Luckily ChampUp now puts most of the focus on all of the worst offenders at least. 2017 & 2018 will be the most important years for League of Legends in terms of this.
After these two years all very unpopular Champions with identity crisis will have been relaunched and I am confident, that we should see a significant increase in faster releases going from then. Why? Because there will be mostly only Champions left, that already have fitting and strong thematics, which sometimes just need a little polish/tweak/definition and a more fleshed out character. Their kits already do a lot of basic things right and maybe only just need a little push, when it comes to the ''strategic diversity''-uniqueness.
My prediction is, that from then on there will be a huge amount, that is just in need of kit reworks around the different smaller sizes of for example
.
In a way the roster will actually increase, because some almost never see play, but will evolve into serious picks, some more niche, others even meta and I am so hyped for it.
Can't wait for it to happen!

gp doesnt need any changes
No one ever said that. Read the sentence again and look closely at the icons. All four are Champions, that already got VGU treatment in a way or another. I was implying, that after the worst offenders have been tackled for the most part, we will probably see more kit reworks around the different smaller sample sizes, like these Champions already had 'em. Pointed this out, because of my personal prediction, that we eventually might see a significant increase in production speed & release rhythms, because a lot of further revamps probably won't be as hard to figure out & time consuming as for example Sion (regarding gameplay changes), who basically got rebuild from scratch.
Nothing more, nothing less!
Yup I think they are even more exciting than new champs and so far I liked every big VGU.
I'm waiting for Cho'gaths VGU more than anything in this entire game. Such potential!
IronStylus was so hyped about it, multi-stage visuals for each stack.
Bless his heart.
Jeez, I miss IronStylus & GrumpyMonkey so much.
Same goes for a Caitlyn VU in the long run and even Quinn by the way. I hope they at least stick to the first mentioned, when the time is right!
And I also hope, he will at least work as outsourced artist with the team on Diana & Leona as Knockwurst did on Maokai (which is also basically responsible for how Tristana & Poppy turned out in the end), when they get their updates someday, or gets a seriously taken consultant position for the teams, that will design them, maybe even Pantheon or other Targon related Champions.
I mean he also did that giant Taric thread back in the day, and all I can say is that most of the community feedback was implemented in the final product, which I think is a great move by Riot. Explains by itself, that they hear what the playerbase has to say and take it in consideration as long as it makes enough sense/is demanded by enough people, or both at the same time. IronStylus had a totally different vision!
Maybe the totally undeserved Fiora hatetrain was just too much for him and I could imagine, that this incident and others played a big part why he left. He was constantly attacked and insulted even while he was very reasonable and one of the most talkative Rioters ever.
Total bro tier.
The good old Kaijū comments, man… so passionate.
YO MY BOY!! Exicted for VGUs AND can't wait for Panth VGU. Are you my doppelganger?!! lol.
Might be
Boy, am I hyped for that Galio rework. I hope his ult stays kinda similar.
Both fearing and hopping for
. She is definitely my most anticipated.
