Something tells me this guy suffered severe burns - his right side is damaged. Maybe he lost his right arm and eye in a fire.

Some says it is a balaclava, which is a kind of black cape that covers all the head ( basically the usual thief's cap).

However i too thought that he was charred on his face, and still i am partly convinced it is the case. Maybe it was torture... or maybe, was something that he did to himself to remedy some ugliness he had in his face? His VO seems to point that, and is totally not something he would not do.

I also think that he is wearing black cloth over his face, sorry I didn't write that in my first comment.

Now we know he has no right eye, and no right arm or lower legs. The area of damage led me to believe he suffered from fire - it kind of looks like, that side was caught by the flames; but it's also equally possible it was torture, or self-inflicted, I agree.

If still you have troubles looking at it, then...

Basically Jhin removes his mask, showing a black burned face. Only an eye is seen while the other is blacked out. Hence, he has a dead eye.

I don't think it's charred skin, you can see the lines of his face "under" it, it's like a balaclava with only an opening for the eye.

Hhhhm, maybe you are right. Seems fitting at least. However i am not totally sold, mostly looking at the eyepatch, even thought i agree that the hairs would look strange it he had a whole charred face.

imo if it were truly a charred face then you would at least be able to see the remnants of a mouth and nose.

I would say that those got consumed by the fire enough to not be visible on the character model well enough, but the more i think about it the more it seems he is not actually charred.

That's a hood Definitely missing an eye though How does he breathe through that thing?
