What if Mordekaiser had instigated the rune wars over wanting to pass his world to a greater one?

The idea is that during the rune wars, Mordekaiser was still expanding his empire, but sought greater power, to be more grandiose, to become more than possible. He acquired runes that he used in a ritual that game him knowledge above all other sentient beings. He knew the world he lived in was simply a pale comparison to ours (yes our world, or one very similar to it) and sought to gain absolute power to reach the next world. He knew he would never be able to achieve this goal in a single lifetime, so he pursued knowledge that would preserve him for near eternity. The rest of his story stays the same more or less, but this allows him to keep his fourth wall shattering ambition, and make him into someone who wants to rule not just his own world, but even more. Perhaps even the ancient targonians could've seen his ambitious behaviour after his incantation and they would be the ones to stop him, but that is a discussion for a later day.
