Can we not just judge the new champion based on her looks before anything gets properly revealed?

Honestly. Emerging threads are already speaking about her appearance. Not that I just encourage Riot to make "sexy champions" but Riot has taken steps to avoid this "Riot is sexist" and "Supermodels sell" issue. Just look at the last line of female champions. It's very unfair to throw tomatoes at this champion just because the artist made her "attrative, sexy, etc."

We haven't even gotten her proper reveal yet and people are already up in arms about riot making a woman vs some void abomination. It was hinted several times that it would be a woman; Swain's quotes, Void marksman. Can will please not start these threads?

I have 0 problem with attractive Champions. I think having them does not make Riot sexist at all. I generally like them.

My main critique for the new Champion's design is that it's generic, safe and disappointing. They had an opportunity to make a really creepy champ, and instead we get something pretty standard. She also doesn't feel unique, visually. I (and Riot, mind you) want every Champ to feel distinct, and Kai'Sa feels like we've seen her in this game before, plenty of times. The attractiveness is not inherently the problem.

I think the critiques about her "sexiness" mainly stem from the fact that she is a survivor of the Void. One would expect someone that survived a horrifying dimension to be a little more twisted than this design. Thus, the attractiveness feels cheap, not like it suits the character. We are not suggesting every woman released from now on can't be sexy just because MF exists or something, but for this character in particular? It feels out of place.

Considering that everyone else we've met has been horribly warped by the Void from even brief exposure, it's understandable that people would be puzzled over this new champ coming out of years being stranded there with zero physiological alterations.

I'm reserving judgement until we get her long-lore, but the reason had better be pretty amazing. Otherwise this is a clear case of violating standing lore for the sake of sex appeal.

He grew a third eye. His normal eyes have turned into spooky pools of Void energy. Can't say much beyond that since he's covered head to toe in clothing. But I would imagine something along the lines of what happened to Nami's fishy friend wouldn't be beyond reason.

If the new gal's suit wasn't a suit, I would have less of an issue here. If she had some inhuman feature herself, even a minor one, I wouldn't have even raised an eyebrow. Riot has made it pretty clear that monstrous champs don't get played as much, so I understand why we didn't get something totally inhuman.

Honestly I could care less about Riot releasing attractive male or female champs. That isn't even on my radar. I'm a fan of eldritch spookiness stuff and the Void lines up with my interests to a T. Hence, why I feel that there should be something inhuman about the new champ. Because no one that goes into the Void comes back the same. Even something as subtle as making her sclera black with glowing purple irises would do it. Or make her blue like Kass and Jax.

Don't think the third eye thing would work for her, though. That seems to be a mark of someone who has had their will subsumed by the Void.

Riot states in her reveal that her symbiotic second skin and sheer will were the only reasons she survived.

All of these Reddit Analysts lack any sort of free thinking apparently, as that clearly leaves the possibility open that her suit protects her from the harmful effects from the void.

If she were armored up full environmental suit style that would be a pretty compelling reason to explain why she didn't mutate.

As it stands, her splash shows her blasting gribblies in the Void with her helmet off.

But maybe the splash isn't at all representative of reality. Maybe she only has her helmet off since she's back in Runeterra and doing so is safe. Maybe her color story will go into details like that. Or maybe it won't.

The difference between Kai'Sa and Malzahar and Kassadin is that Malz/Kass let the Void in. The allowed themselves to be corrupted by the Void and were mutated because of this. Kai'Sa probably gets void like powers from her "second skin".

I'd also like to point out that she's no little bitch in the void. She's top dog. Apex predator.

And all she has to showcase that she’s top dog is a symbiotic suit. At the very least there should be some visible scarring or even a mutation to showcase the dangerous effects of long term exposure in the void.

The very void itself is supposed to be dangerous to people with how everything gets corrupted whenever void creatures get involved. The new champion only shows that the creatures are dangerous, not the void.

Maybe her suit keeps her from being corrupted? I wonder how the suit benefits from such a relationship. Also, maybe void corruption is more a psychological battle than anything else, similar to Kayn/Rhaast.

I don’t understand why the suit that is not only a symbiote living in the void, needs her to remain uncorrupted, when it’s food source is more than likely in the void as well.

I don't know man, my best guess is that it was going to use her, but she was able to resist corruption, and now she uses the suit. Maybe it's actually a parasite that she simply was able to overcome. As for the food source part of your post, it probably can't' survive very well on it's own. It would probably take over the body of something much stronger than itself and use it to hunt down food. For some reason I don't think void creatures are able to resist very well.

Malz let the Void in.

Kass didn't in the new lore.

He went into the Void after gearing up and preparing as best as possible to find his missing daughter and that wasn't enough.

His daughter went in with zero prep and came out fine. I'm having trouble buying that unless it was the suit that pulled her into the Void to begin with, granting her protection from time-zero.

Depending on your definition of corruption, one could argue either whether he is corrupted or not. It seems like this body definitely felt the effects, but he managed to keep his sanity.

According to the lore, he was just hunting ancient knowledge. Nowhere in his lore is there any mention of a daughter. Could you please give me a source for this information? I know it's widely considered to be canon, but I would like to see it.

Edit: I am well aware that he has a daughter, but where i the lore does it state he went on a rescue mission? Or is it implied through champion interactions/voice lines?

That's the old lore. He went to Icathia and was whomped via Void influence like Malz. He never actually went in. But in the new short lore-

Cutting a burning swath through the darkest places of the world, Kassadin knows his days are numbered. Though once a notorious adventurer, he had chosen to live anonymously and raise a family among the nomad tribes of Shurima—until the day his daughter was claimed by the Void. Kassadin vowed to bring her back, combining a number of arcane artifacts and forbidden technologies for the struggle ahead. His precautions were not enough, however, and these devices now only serve to slow the insidious corruption that ravages his body... but he will gladly pay that price, if only he can save her...

He does go in after some prep to try to protect himself from the awful place. He'll probably be getting a new long lore entry along with Kai (and hopefully a few other Void beasties, too).

It really is annoying how spread around things are. Click on Kass' entry in the universe page. It's the short blurb on the main site. If you click 'read his bio' it takes you to the old, out-dated lore.

Overall the thing is that at the moment I don't see any reason for her to look sexy.

She lived isolated from humans for years and her small lore tidbit makes it sound like she considers staying on the side of the void,so why would she need to be sexy?

Every other being that we've seen so far mutated due to the influences of the void,then why would the person who has been in touch with the void for years be the one that is the least mutated one?

That is like expecting the person who holds their hand into the fire for an hour to be less burned than the person who does it for 5 minutes.

When I imagined a void character, I didn't expect a suit covered everything except the boobs. Never knew voidborns were too afraid to go in there, or how important the boobs are for an apex predator. Boobs or no kill.

That's sex appealing. If it was a male void marksman, we would likely not even see his face, or 4 claws ready to rip where his face supposed to be.

I am never against sexy characters, do it. I really don't care. But I don't want them to destroy the fantasy of lore. What I learnt from the Void was how terrifying place it is and its individuals, originally born there or not. Everything is malformed and changed here, that's what story said. I don't know how a beautiful chick came from here. Neither I expected.

Well obviously her breasts aren't flopping around free. League needs to maintain its T rating.

The suit isn't covering up her sternum, neck, and head. Those are the most important parts of anatomy for armor to protect. If she were fully armored (see: her passive icon) I don't think anyone would be complaining right now.

Well, no, that isn't true. Someone would still be complaining about something, I'm sure. Just not about token sex-appeal on the least appropriate champ possible.
