So do these Splash Updates affect future VUs?

I am loving all these new Splash Updates. They're amazing. I love the little tweaks and changes and direction they're taking the champion. But it does have me wondering, how does this affect their eventual VU?

Let's use Jarvan for example. He could use an update eventually. I never liked his armor. The black "demonic" looking spikes never fit for a prince of Demacia. But now with the splash update, he looks so badass. They made it work. Armors cooler and the spikes don't look demonic or out of place anymore. Basically what I'm saying is that look can be his VU right there. But will it?

Do they discuss what they're doing with the ChamUp team? Does the ChampUp team know what the Splash team is doing?

Shaco is in definite need of an update. Is this the look they will go for when updating him? What about Rumble? What about Kogmaw? And some others?

Are these splashes here to stay or temporary? Are these splashes going to be replaced when VU time comes?

Would like some insight on this IronStylus, ChampUp team, Splash team?

A safe rule of thumb is that Riot doesn't want to do more work than absolutely necessary. It's not a matter of not doing the job, as the recent Sion rework has shown, but doing a full rework on a champ is like creating a new one with extra skins, and adding to the team's necessary efforts would be pointless at best.

That's why you'll see a champion that's on the rework list not receive new skins (Evelynn, Zilean, Yorick, Sion, Taric, etc.) while they're on that list.

Despite protests from the Skins team that they ARE working on skin ideas for these champions, it's clear that creating a new skin for Yorick while the champ is under consideration for a full rework would mean double the actual work on that skin alone. Same goes for the splash arts.

So, it's safe to assume that when a champion receives new splash art it means that the champ isn't on the list for a rework, visual or otherwise.

You must remember that ChampUp Team and Splash Team are two completely different teams and rarely do the two affect each-other (if at all)

Not to nitpick, but I thought J4's spiny armor is from the beasts he killed during his soul-searching hunts? In the context of his story, it's not so unusual, imo.

Overall I think they have a list of champs that will change drastically with their VU,like Evelynn .

But even those might get a new splash art if the VU is still too far away(for example it has been said that Cho'gath isn't really in production yet and that there are many cool ideas they have about him,so he might end up needing a new splash art after his VU,but since it is still far away,they gave him one anyway).

So I'd say that these splash arts however do not affect VUs.Ironstylus talked about how he wants to redesign caitlyn for her VU around the time when her splash art came out.
