EDIT: Okay, so his lore hasn't come out yet. Thank god, I thought I was just going insane.

By design, the promo is not 1 to 1 with his lore (like the jynx video). The thinking by promo team was limiting it to lore champs wouldnt be as interesting visually. BUT Jhin is aware of those champs and this is how he would like to "work"with them. (He has been planning some performances for years) That said, Jhin does have a very, very strong connection to Zed in lore and i think he is going to shine some light on post invasion Ionia.

I made a post review of the teasers. I mean they were very well made but the approach felt like it lacked more context about what Jhin was about and that ended up leaving a lot of people with "What was that supposed to be about this masked dude?"

I saw Gypsy's interview and it made me more connected to Jhin than any of the teasers did. Hope some of you could look up some critiques of the teaser and why some of us found it as weak in terms of establishing character~

Simply because it is metaphorical and not literal. It shows how Jhin thinks, not what he does.

Well this is silly you guys barely spend time to develop already existing champions and you use teaser's (that are usually the only thing we get like with jinx) to not trully showcase the character ? This sucks please dont do that.

they do this for many reasons would you honestly want them to put up a teaser with the new champion's abilities and spoil the fun in theroies and keeping people guessing? summoner 7

The connection with Zed was clear from his VO. Jhin teases him a lot and in different ways, I think that Zed nearly killed him while on the hunt for him with Shen and Co. but got stopped, hence Jhin prosthesis.

I really wonder though about the "Shadowy figures" that commisionate Jhin's works. They were behind his evasion but did Jhin knew about them from before? Had he already worked for them? Does he know who they really are?

I see, so it was more of a praise to his thinking based on what he thinks an artistic killing would be like for each of the champions.

And I suppose it makes sense that Zed was the first, and the most prominent (in a sense) of the pre-Jhin champion-teasers, since his lore is so closely connected to Zed.

I'd figured I would leave this comment because I'm not quite sure what you lot plan on doing. If you plan on killing these characters canonically, you're just going to end up pissing people off. When Gangplank was "dead" everybody was annoyed because the character was disabled in game. These characters aren't just Gangplank though. They are fan favorites. Nobody's story has been elaborated on and it would be premature. On top of that, I would assume that the League itself would not allow someone to murder other champions outside of the Fields. I know that you've said that the art is not 1-1 with lore, but I noticed on the q and a that the word "yet" was used in this regard. If this was a misunderstanding, I would appreciate a response to alleviate my fears.

Edit: Sorry if that sounded a bit rude. I didn't mean it as such. Also, I am not opposed to using Zed and Shen for an event like that, but the other 3 really don't seem to have anything to do with this.

A bunch of folks here have already discussed the merits of Jhin's art and how he would see these champions involved within it, so I won't talk about that. Instead, I'd like to postulate that the connections he has with Zed and Sona might go a bit deeper.

Zed of course being the murderer of Shen's father and a former apprentice of his strikes a nerve for Jhin, since it's implied Shen's father was the one who got Jhin incarcerated, and so he resents Zed not just for_ being_ an apprentice of but also taking his life before Jhin could have a shot.

For Sona I'm going to throw out some thought I've had recently. Sona didn't leave Ionia until her teenage years, and she would've been exceptionally proficient with the etwahl by then. Jhin's taunts imply he is disgusted by Sona's way of making art, as he doesn't see the beauty in using music to bring peace and happiness. This is potentially exacerbated by the fact we know her etwahl has a capacity to cause destruction. Perhaps Jhin has met Sona before, and thinks of her as a true artistic rival, one who is flawed in not only her body (being mute) but also in her artistic pursuits. If that's got a hint of truth to it the last time these two would've probably met would've been when Sona was a teenager, and it likely would've ended up being during the course of the Noxian invasion, if we assume Sona's in her mid to late twenties at the moment.

Just some things to think about. My head canon now is that Sona had a not to pleasant encounter or two with Jhin in her teen years and potentially even before that.

Just going to say the same thing I and everyone else say every time a thread like this appears: we don't know yet. Riot hasn't released the full lore on Jhin yet and wont until he's released.

Garen was shot in the heart for the fact he loves Katarina but knows she is the only worthy fighter for him Sona was shot in the neck do the fact she tries to talk but she can do it with music but she wants to talk. was shot in the back do to the fact she is a cop now but she use to be a evil but now she locks them up Zed he got shot in the head do to the shadow overtaking him from the good and evil in his mind

Sona is another countrymen from Ionia, who is an artist. He resents her for taking the spotlight of his "artistic" work. He resents Zed for killing Shens father, the man who imprisoned him before, since he was the one who wanted to kill that man himself. He resents Shen for being part of his capture and imprisonment.

Garen and Vi, no clue as of yet (if there is any lore relations behind those two).

I found out his connection with Sona! After watching his cinematic I went to Sona's page and there's a cinematic of her with smoke coming out of her mouth like the woman in the trailer and you can hear a shot in the background too! So I guess the man beinh shot is probably Sona's father killed by Jhin, since they're both from Ionia!

Idk but he has no quotes with Vi and only quotes with Zed, Sona and Garen (out of the ones in the teaser) he also has quotes with Shen, Jinx and Jayce.

I think it was all in his imagination. He was visualizing their deaths in their mind, to plan them carefully to fit his artistic tastes.

From what we know so far he is an artist whose gun is his brush, the targets his paint, and the league as a canvas. It feels like he shot Zed , Sona , Garen because they were also artists just in a different way. sona has the "art" of music Garen has the "art" of war being leader of the Vanguard vi has the "art of fighting which is an art of its own kind Zed has the"art" of shadows/darkness then again this is just my opinion.

Its possible that they are simply on Jhins list of people he should(or wants) to kill and these teasers are how he imagines their deaths.

They all weren't alike to him but in a few ways. They were all artists. They called Jhin Deadeye. And they all were good in LoL. They all refused into going into Jhin's group to all make their kind of "art". Jinx accepted it because she always wanted a friend that was also a maniac.(opinion) He killed Zed because he was friends with Shen and Zed killed Shen's father. Shen's father trained Shen and Zed. But Zed automatically killed Shen's father when he heard it was Shen's father. Jhin killed Sona in a speical way, in the neck, because she never knew how to talk and her art was music. Jhin killed Vi because her lore says she was once bad. When Jhin forced Vi into being bad again, she refused. Jhin killed Garen because as I said, he was very VERY OP and he used large chest armor. Jhin forced Garen into going into another place because Jhin completly HATED Demacia and Jarvan IV so he killed Garen. Sona Garen Zed
