If or when she gets her vgu, I'm sure that there will be some heavy changes. One that I'm wondering about is if she should still be connected with the Shadow Isles. Riot may want to, but if they will, I'm wondering if she's even supposed to be alive?

I gave you this link for free... It doesn't specifically say she IS from the Shadow Isles but the fact that it's grouped with all the other SI lore seems like a solid confirmation, dont you think? However we still don't know if she's technically alive or not.
