I wish people would stop complaining about champs with too many skins

You know, I understand that people feel frustrated when their main gets passed up on a skin opportunity again and again. It sucks. You love a champ but nothing new ever comes out for it. Except for the people who are maining champs that need VGUs, you know that it was another missed opportunity.

However, as I see it you have to look at it from the other perspective.

Rito needs to make money to keep the game going and the reason we all are here is because we are too cheap to pay a monthly fee. Since riot has to pay their people twice a week, they need a sustainable cash flow. Part of me thinks the weekly sales are in place to help bring in a steady income over the year.

So this is where the champs with "too many skins" come into play. These guys are popular and they have a lot of fans. Their skins sell really well. They are easy enough to work with. Riot needs a lot of cash to keep running. Popular champs are important to keep the business running. Riot knows that if they make a new skin for a popular champ, there are going to be a lot of people who buy those skins.

They are reliable income. Reliable income is very important in business and in life. Imagine trying to getting a job. The first place you go to tells you that every other week, if you'll be paid and how much you'll be paid will be determined by RNG. Now over time if you work there for 10 years, you'll get an okay average wage, but realistically, you might end up going months between paychecks and even if you do get paid, it might be 30 bucks for the last 2 months. On the other hand, you've got a job opportunity that'll pay you a fixed wage every other week.

So where are you going to work?

If you are a sane person, you'll take the second option. You've got to eat daily. You've got to fill the tank once or twice a week. You've got bills coming in on a regular basis. All this takes money and you really don't want to worry about your bank account depending on RNG.

Now apply this to riot. Meddler has to listen to 1,000 fan complaints a day and wants to be paid for it. Riot's got other employees who want to be paid a fair salary for their job every other week like a normal person. They've got huge bills to pay every month. They have to pay uncle sam every 3 months. Their chinese overlords want a cut of all the money riot makes.

So riot needs a sustainable cash flow. This is why popular champs get a lot of skins. Riot either makes an Ahri/Lux/Ez/Teemo/Yi skin every year or they go to prison for unpaid taxes and be someone's b*tch. Now if you were in their situation what would you do? Would you make elementalist lux, or would you be a plaything for someone who's in for murder because being in prison is safer than being with 1,000 employees you haven't paid recently?

Elementalist Lux is such a better choice you'd do her in an instant.

Then there's another thing going on. Not everyone buys all the skins for their mains. I main Soraka. I've got 1 skin for her. Sona is my other main. I've got 2 skins for her and almost didn't get 1 of them. Sej is one of my favorite junglers. I've got no skins for her. Shyvana is my other favorite jungler. I've got 1 skin for her. I've got Ahri but I don't own all her skins. Just because a champ has a dozen skins, it doesn't mean everyone who plays that champ likes all of them. So even within the fanbases of popular champs, not every skin will be bought by 100% of the players.

Now add in the fact most players are cheap and won't even buy skins you've got a situation where riot needs to get the most bang for their buck. Employees have to be paid to make a skin in the first place. So if riot does an Ahri skin that makes over 9,000 times the amount of money it cost them to produce versus a Zyra skin that doesn't even break even, what do you think they are going to do the next time they have a slot open that can go to either Ahri or Zyra? That art team slot is going to Ahri without a second thought because they want to eat and pay their own bills.

So instead of getting angry when a popular champ gets a new skin, you should be happy. That's like going to a restaurant and having someone else picking up your bill. Lux mains and Ez mains are fine with picking up your tab. You should be grateful to them not upset. I mean yes they get to pick the meal, but at least you are eating for free this time. If anything, riot should be making 2 skins a year for the popular champs so they can afford to double the size of their skins team or something.

All skins will eventually recoup cost as long as they appeal. This even includes Battlecast Urgot.

Additionally, doing skins with the intent of not making Ahri-level profit will keep players not only interested in champions, but content with the game.

A happy playerbase is a profitable player base. Besides, it's not like you make money off've ignoring elements of your game. In fact, it creates pocketed stagnancy.

Just saying.

I'm definitely fine with this reason because, like it or not, we are living in capitalist era.

What I 'm so annoyed is that most people still believe Riot has been making skins solely for art sake. "Not fitting this and that theme" is the most popular excuse for them. C'mon do you really think that is the sole reason? With resources they have, they can set up meeting of artists and designer for making 8 - 9 1350 or even ultimate tier skins for Cassiopeia Viktor. They just don't want to do it.

I'm not saying they have been lying to us. They have to do researching and brainstorming to make 1 skin but we should admit that this is not the sole reason they avoid making new skins for certain champs.

I don't mind the reaons behind champs getting lots of skins because my opinion is this: a champion can never have too many skins unless they have skins that cannibalise the concepts of other skins that exist on the same champion. The only thing I'd prefer in all of this is if every champion got a new skin at least once every two years. And if it's gonna be that long then that one skin should be pretty high quality.

I'd also be happy if they just released more Sona skins though, so yeah, Riot, get on that please.

I'm still waiting for a new Xerath skin. It better be high quality since his release skins are already pretty shit (just recolours).

Dark Star and Cosmic Reaver please.
