Was reading the Shadow and Fortune and came across this name. Anyone have any idea who this might be? Sounds like a perfect name for a future champion.

A goddess of some kind potentially. Based on how Miss Fortune reacted to seeing the roots I feel like it's safe to say the Empress is part of a super old religion, like SUPER old. By our standards I guess an ancient deity of a long collapsed civilization would be the best comparison. Either way she's some kind of religious figure, potentially a goddess, maybe a demon or a kind of spirit entity, but with only a name, a reaction and some roots to go on it's difficult to say.

While it's hardly impossible that the name will have some cultural origin in Runeterra, one has to consider that Empress of the Dark Forest is the name of a real herb and thus might just be a particularly evocative choice of name.
