Now that I've had time to pick at this..
Let us look at this in the more logical fashion of Riot, shall we? As we saw with the Immortal Journey's Sword teaser last year, things can be very misleading in the mind of Riot.
Let us start at the beginning with the tagline that was given. "The realm is safe as long as we stand. The immovable titan, the vicious beast, and I—the light of the new year." This tells us there are at least 3 characters that have been chosen to come for this, which pretty much follows along with the more recent years (the past 4) as we've gotten fewer skins in events so they can make them higher quality.
Second, 2018 is the Year of the Dog. Why is that important? Well, League's main Dog is , so why not use this as a time to give him a new skin? His last major skin was his Legendary in 2013, and then after that, he had two 750 tiers, one for 2015, and another in 2016. So I feel they could give him a nice 1350 for something like this. Looking at the tagline, you could say he's The immovable titan or even the vicious beast, as either of those could suit him.
Third, people are saying , which is okay given we see what appears to be a dragon on the side there. Though, I'd say that's not a good enough reason to jump right towards him. The Lunar Revel is League's version of the Chinese new year afterall and Chinese themes usually have some kind of Dragon floating around in them as we have seen that be a theme for the Lunar revel quite a bit (even if it's not the main theme of the year). There's also the fact Sol hasn't had a skin since his release in 2016. Riot tends to keep from giving new skins to champions if the skin is possibly going to be Legacy. Lunar Revel skins have been mostly legacy in the past with some being Permanent. There's champions like 
who saw a Lunar skin as her first skin in 2014 be permanent, so it's not to say it couldn't happen, but it's just something to keep in mind.
Lastly, there's the part of the tagline that says " and I—the light of the new year" this part I find interesting. There are many sources of Light, however, the main light based champion in League is . She was on the list of WAD files made for champions that might be seeing something soon. It also makes me think it might be for her as we also see this bright light coming from the teaser. So the visual of the creatures displayed in the art could just be something meant to mislead as this light could be something as well.
Then I don't really have much to say on the possible skin. I mean, it could happen as he's a dog-esque champ so he could be in here too.
I th8nk it's more likely to be a nautalis skin because nautalis is the TITAN of the deep

But that Sword thing turned out to be Janna.
And (clearly) Sivirs voice in the PROJECT Teaser turned out to be Vayne.
So yeah, totally random. Might also be Singed or whatever xD

Please note it is the year of the dog. It’s Nasus. He’s a dog. Last year it was the year of the rooster. Azir is a bird kinda rooster. Thing. Next year is the year of the pig. No clue who that will be.

There was a "leaked 2018 skins" list. And it said that Aurelion Sol, Taliyah and Nasus would get the Lunar skins. i have faith.
