However we aren't going to get to know how and in what way just yet unfortunately. I'm hoping that we'll get to learn more soon, but I know how long it takes for good lore to come out.

So in the mean time, thoughts? Speculations?

I'm personally wondering if they will somehow help the void, or help fight against it. I'm leaning towards the latter.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for the same sort of "Summoners". The LoL Summoners were very different from traditional summoners, which could be anything. They could just be mages who summon spirits or creatures or something. Malzahar is something of a summoner, calling forth Voidlings, as is Yorick, with his necromancy stuff summoning spirits.

I don't think we'll see anything like the Institute or League, but I could see "Summoning Magic" being a sort of "category" within the LoL universe, like Rune Magic or Lux's Light Magic.

Given how the League client's being designed with hextech in mind, as if it was a hextech device, I'm inclined to believe Summoners will be tied to that - hextech. Just a hunch though.
