As A Morgana Main I Am Highly Disappointed In All But One Of Her Skin Reworks

Apologies if this has been said a million times over, but I've had a long week and just now saw all of the skins finally. I love Morgana even if I'm not challenger or whatever, I enjoy her, I LOVE(d) her aesthetic. Her base skin with the visual rework looks amazing, but most of her skins look like downgrades and I'm not sure what the thought process was behind downgrading her skins. Blackthorn for example is my favorite skin, period. Fav skin on my fav champion. It is the skin I use on her every game if I can help it.

Now it doesn't even look like the same theme at all, and I can't see myself even wanting to use it as it looks genuinely worse by a large amount than it previously did. It was done amazingly and now it looks as if it was done in a rush and it bums me out.

As someone who has the most mastery points on Morgana and quite a few of her skins (I've bought the ones I wanted and skipped the ones I didn't) I am highly disappointed and I don't know that I'll bother with anything but her base skin now and that really sucks.

edit: I misworded and said I had the most mastery points on Morg and what I meant was out of my champs she has the most mastery points. Oops

the more I look at new blackthorn the more I see it as a downgrade. there's no leaves coming from her wings, which don't even look like branches anymore. she's only just getting leaf particles in her E. she doesn't have a unique death animation anymore. it's just...awful.

At this point I prefer the white version of her base skin to Ghost Bride, it's sad. I want Ghost Bride to be better (I own that one).

The goal of the skin reworks is make the old skins look worse so that the new skins are a more attractive purchase, imo.

Agreed. I'm pretty disappointed in her new look overall. Morg is supposed to be a dark tormented soul, now she's just another attractive edgy champ.

My personal favorite is blade mistress and i also look at the upcoming splash and feel very disappointed. Even her original splash just gives me different vibes, especially her dress, hair, and wings. I feel like they couldve kept those kinds of characteristics the same, just upgrade the art. im gunna miss old morgana x')

Hm i find them different, quite different, but not bad, although the "impression" it gives is indeed very different but a model update was sorely needed.

I'm highly disappointed in the entire rework. Butt wings are horrendously stupid and ugly. The chains in her outfit look dumb. Emo Tracer hair... She went from an actually dark and bad ass character to a whiny emo teenager in look, story, and VO. And she won't stop spinning. Still unsure if I just get a new main or quit LoL completely.

Blackthorn is gonna be MY to-go skin on morgana.

Yes, it has a few less details,but it looks so much more polished now.

Before, Exiled Morgana was my fav skin, and tbh, I'm not a 100% keen on the new hair/ eye "makeup" theyve done on her there, but the overall look is still really nice, especially with the VFX changes theyre adding now. So I do like that skin as well. Bewitching Morgana is super pretty and cute as well, finally you can see some of her face, before it was all covered by her giant hat.

instead, I find the base morgana skin boring. I'll also agree with Ghost Bride Morgana being slightly worse now. Blade Mistress has never been a favourite of mine but I do like the new version better. Sinful succulence has always been silly to me and it still is. I like the new lunar wraith Morgana overall, but the colour palette bugs me (that green tone and that pinkish red tone on her dress are both rather intense with no other colours balancing them out...kinda bugs me).

So yeah, I'm not completely happy because I just wouldve wished for all the reworks to be pure eyecandy. Some are, some arent. But theyre still better than what they used to be for the most part...

I actually wouldnt be surprised if Morgana got a completely new skin sometime soon with her new rework.

I agree with the critisicm on Blackthorn. Her model is nice, but it does feel like some sort of a generic Hippie-Nature-Witch than an actual forest spirit. The outfit and wings lack detail and there is nothing special about the VFX apart from the red colour. Ghostbride still has a nice model, but the high amount of grey ruins it. The lower wing (the "tail") should be of the same colout as the dress, so it seems more like a long veil/ train.

HOWEVER I think it's unfair noone is talking about how great Lunar Wraith came out. I think it really looks splendid and fullfills the concept the old model failed to live up to.

I've OTPed her since season 1. I'm pretty upset with this update. The new Morgana doesn't seem to have the same personality or look as current Morgana. But w/e I guess my opinion doesn't matter.

So I rarely play anymore. Played since s2, and league has been slowly and constantly frustrating me the last few years.

But Morg was one of my first 2 mains (Sivir being the other). I own multiple skins for her - one of 3 champs I can say that about - and I LOVED everything about her old aesthetic and approach.

I just happened onto the boards to check something else, and saw the VU for Morg. It makes me really sad. I own Blade Mistress. I prefer the old details over the newer sheek look. I own Blackthorn. God, the new one just removes every single thing that make Blackthorn unique. It’s straight awful.

The newest couple skins look approximately the same to me, losing some detail here and there in exchange for some smoothness there and here. Not the exchange I would prefer, but they didn’t lose anything essential to the skins. Except Ghost Bride, being newish compared to some. Not impressed.

The Butt Wings are a hilariously bad idea. No idea how whoever came up with that didn’t get laughed off the table. The breathing animation is weird.

IMO, Bewitching and Lunar look good and the static model change - ignoring the wing debacle - looks good. The rest looks deliberately half-assed.

OP, what is your opinion on new Bewitching Morgana? I bought the skin when it was in My Shop because it was my favourite out of all her skins. I don't know how to feel about the new one, it just doesn't feel the same. While I wasn't a big fan of the big poofy dress of the original Bewitching, the new one doesn't seem to strike a chord with me and I feel like it lost many details of the original.

Excited for the Morde rework. Can't wait to see what happens when they try this to a champion with actually dedicated mains (that aren't bought out.) that frequent boards.

I really do not like bewitching or ghost bride... I'm kinda pissed honestly as they aren't the skins I paid for.... and i've been forced to take new skins.

Do you have an opinion on Morgana's Ghost Bride skin as well? I wanted to see if the lack of veil covering the extra dragging wings was a general consensus.

i have almost all the morgana skins (besides her Exiled and sobs in corner Victorious skin) and i gotta say i like them all i might even alternate between the skins but i can see where your coming from.Personally i dont like the shape of Morgana's Head in her new black thorn splash art and its disappointing they didnt do more with ghost bride skin/splash

I, personally, think all of her skins were upgraded except for Ghost Bride. Her base is beautiful like you talked about. I feel like Blackthorn was highly upgraded. The original was pretty ugly in my opinion, and on top of that, Morgana was stiff in that skin. I dreaded using that skin because it was so awkward. Now, it is a thing of beautiful with smooth animations. Also, BT now has some beautiful chromas. The only thing I found cool about the original was the death animation... which isn't exactly a feature I planned on using too much if you get my drift.

My only tweak would be that Ghost Bride should have a poof-ier dress because she is wearing a wedding gown, and I liked the poofy, tent dress because it matched my idea of a bride dress.

Overall, I think Riot did some nice work with Morgana. Blackthorn is still the same theme. I mean. she even summons a tree during her recall which is pretty cool now. She also has a twig crown, etc.

Also, as a side note, why do you say you are "someone who has the most mastery points on Morgana"? As of (me) writing this, you have 207,096 MP on Morgana. The person with the most MP is Makiz002 with 4.5 million points.

Absolutely agree, but just to list a few more downgrades that will be impacting my skin choices in the future:

Ghost Bride and Blade Mistress both lost their highly detailed/awesome wings. They didn't even try to make the new ones any close to how awesome the old ones are.

Bewitched, (aka Halloween), lost ALL of its color and now has no particle bats flying around her. It's not as terrible as Blackthorn, but it's certainly close to the same level of trash design. Bewitched was my favorite skin too, and now it has no value to behold... It truly is a shame that Riot decided to shit on this champ [sg-lux-2]
