Who is the Ruined King?

? or someone we don't know? it's probably my favorite item in the game so i'm just curious as to who owned it

The Ruined King is the king of a nation long since passed. His wife was gravely ill, so he sent people in search of a cure. Kalista and Hecarim found the cure in the Blessed Isles, but when they returned home, they found that the queen had died. They brought her corpse to the Isles regardless and performed a ritual to attempt to bring her back. The ritual released undeath upon the Isles, turning them into the Shadow Isles and killing every living thing there, twisting it into undead. Yorick was the sole survivor, and it is due to the holy water in the vial on his neck that he remains untouched by the curse of the Mist even to this day.

Mordekaiser, while it says he's a Shadow Isles champion, really his main tie there is that his bones lie in the Isles, and the fact that his corpse still exists is why his spirit still walks in the armor. He was the ruler of the nation that became Noxus. He was killed, but revived by necromancers, but his corpse is what links his spirit to the mortal world.
It's not Morde. I know that much.
I'm pretty sure its a guy we don't really know, but I'm not following lore that closely so [zombie-brand-clap]

It was Kalista's and Hecarim's king. He isn't one of the champions in the game. I suggest reading Kalista's story to learn more.
As a side note, Kalista makes references to him when she buys BotRK. Go into practice mode with her to check it out.
