Every Region in League has more or less stayed somewhat true to their origins except Bandle City.

I don't hate what Riot has done with Bandle City but I really wish given the huge directional change in it over the years Riot would have gotten more community feedback.

Between taking them off the actual world map, switching from a technological civilization to more magical (which went against most of the current Yordle Designs), Making them a myth in the world by making them rare and adding glamour, and showing a fully fuzzy female Yordle with tails in Legends of Runeterra, I don't even know if female Yordles are supposed to be all smooth skinned or not anymore and that's kind of a big change.

And now lore wise it's behind even the void. If Riot had a grand vision for it years ago why does it seem like a mess now. I know a lot of people were hoping to see more in the lore book and I know Riot at least realizes now that we have been expecting a lot more from what people thought was a major region. Not some side thing.

I really hope Riot doesn't stray too much farther from what the community knew the Yordles to be Originally (after the megling stuff). Because the universe like many other universes and it's further development should be part of the community now.

There have been quite some changes to the regions, tbh.

For example, Piltover and Zaun were not part of the same big city back then. Piltover just has been the cliche "good steampunk city", while Zaun was the "evil steampunk city". And both were rivaling each other.

Now these 2 cities are actually connected and depend on each other. And Piltover isn't just shown as the good guys, since we know of their problems with corrupt aristrocrats. While Zaun is still a dangerous place, we now know that there is good stuff down there, too. Like Blitzcrank, Janna, and Zac who are all good guys trying to save people, unlike before.

Besides.... Bandle City also had the silliest thematic and needed a change. Yordles have just been furry aliens who landed on Runeterra with their mothership. Just like many champions back then have just been aliens, btw.

Anivia? From a cryophoenix planet. Malphite? Alien dude from a planet with rock people. Even Morgana and Kayle have been from another planet inhabited by angels.

The whole "they are aliens" stuff was weird and kinda lazy. I am glad about the new direction they have taken for Bandle City.

While I personally didn't like the decision to make Yordles "mythical" and Bandle City "on another plane", I have kind of come to accept that these will probably stay somewhat true. That said, I have some thoughts on the possible direction for Bandle.

  1. Kill Glamour. I hate it and its confusing. Heim creating Glamour is still fine, but why can he make it and ALSO it works for Tristana without her trying? I think glamour CAN be an interesting plot point, but I think overall its suffocating any Yordle character. Like what about Yuumi, is she glamour'd? Or is she just a cat to humans? Does this make it difficult for them to interact with humans? Why do they always appear as old people, when someone like Trist it might make more sense for her to be young?? I just don't get the purpose, other than making them "more mythical".

  2. Switching them to magical works fine, especially since technology is established to be somewhat magical in nature. Much of Yordle magic just feels like "they believe in this, so it works for them" which I think works for a somewhat child-like civilization of people. Plus it seems like--if Rumble being a Bandle patriot is still true--Bandle itself still has technology, even if the beings themselves are magical. Its fine to do both, as long as the other isn't neglected.

  3. I assumed the females Yordles still had fur, just a very light layer. This might just be my mistaken headcanon, but I'm fine with female Yordles getting a bit fuzzier, so long as established Yordle designs still work. Making it so that Lulu, Trist, Poppy have light fur on their faces is plausible and works to unify the fuzzy Yordle designs a bit.

  4. The main thing I want when Bandle City FINALLY gets updated is: I just want Bandle City to be an actual place. It can exist on its own spirit plane and have secret portals all over Runeterra, but the City itself is a community, with buildings, people, etc. What kind of society they have is up to Riot, but I just want them to have an actual real functioning town and not just a "spiritual, magical plane that humans foolishly call a 'city'"

I am fine with some changes, but I agree that it feels like Riot has no plan and just been leaving Bandle in limbo for some time now. I just want all the existing characters to still stay true to their character, and also lay the groundwork for future interesting Bandle/Yordle characters and lore.

... Most regions at tihs point are practically the exact opposite of what they were originally. HUGE disagree with the title.

Bandle City needs either Yuumi's master or Corki's VGU to get its proper lore as it needs to remain consistent with those; It'll happen, but its a long time coming still.

I don't hate what Riot has done with Bandle City

... They have done ANYTHING with Bandle City?

Because so far, we have barely gotten information about how to enter to the place and that is all.

And even that is technically questionable since the lore says that "opinions differ as to where exactly the home of the yordles is to be found".

The only actual 100% verified information about Bandle City (not the yordles, that is a separate thing) that we have in the Universe page AND THE BOOK, is "Only one thing is known for certain, and that is the timeless quality of Bandle City and its inhabitants." ... that and something about the spirit realm, but you know, "opinions differ" about that.
