They were dynamic, they had POWER and it really felt authentic. It was like watching a live performance of their band.

At least we get to see her fingers that seem to be grabbing those strings (ie playing), while in the original her left hand seems to be under the instrument doing god knows what and her right hand is busy doing the metal sign to the audience.

I can get the right hand metal sign thingy, but her left hand really isn't playing in the original splash art. Old splash may as well be depicting Sona before she actually starts the music and is just hyping the audience up before the performance (or right after one before the next track).
So that makes her new splash more closely resembles playing because at least her fingers are on the strings.
