https://i.ytimg.com/vi/L6IuQOwKPAA/hqdefault.jpg #Before ya'll bite my head off, this is an analysis of the lore changes done in a patch-note-style format.

So if you saw here we got some lore changes. I wanted to go over them and note the key/major differences (as well as a personal theory about what's gonna happen). TL;DR at the end of each champ analysis

#Diana

So apparently Diana is now no longer just the embodiment of the moon but the physical manifestation of a lunar celestial, meaning that she is almost god-tier power levels now. Hoo boy. What is super interesting however is that Diana seems to have undergone a tone shift. She's now someone struggling with the power of a lunar celestial rather than a vengeful wraith of the moon. More importantly, the Lunari are "all but quashed". This could mean that Diana is no longer the last Lunari (???) in Targon but rather the paragon of a waning faith. Above all, Diana's now far more peaceful and divided in her lore. We'll have to wait for the major changes/short story but, for now, it looks like Diana got some tone shifting to accompany her power level change.

Diana Buffs

  • If someone asks.....: Diana has had her lore-power-curve drastically increased.
  • Let's find some friends!: Diana may no longer be the last Lunari.

Nerfs

  • Anger management: Diana is significantly less angry.
  • What is a man!? A miserable pile of moonrocks!: Diana now has depression about being a lunar god lady person.

#Leona

For one, Leona is apparently now just a Templar of the Solari rather than their idol. This could mean that the Solari have more than one god-tier aspect as their herald. Much like Diana, Leona has also gone under a slight lore personality change. Rather than a "divine protector", Leona provides protection to some...and death to others. Which means that Leona could very well be far more brutal than the original story implied as a savior and protector. Also worth noting is that now Leona is burdened with "Terrible, ancient knowledge". Hmmmm....

Leona Buffs

  • ...if you're a god...: Leona has had her lore-power-curve slightly increased.
  • URGOT REWORK INC!?!?!: Leona is now a guardian of ancient and terrible knowledge.

Nerfs

  • Special snowflake status revoked: Leona might not be the only Solari idol anymore.
  • THAT time of the month: Leona is far less protective than she seemed to be.

#Pantheon

Holy hell did this change benefit panth immensely. Now he's not just a random spartan who's just better at his job, he's literally the GOD OF WAR (Hi Kratos). More so, Pantheon hunts enemies of Targon. Which could mean that he's some sort of police force for Targon that cuts down problems. This would also explain his lore achievements and how he's one of, if not the, best fighters in all of Runeterra. On the downside, it probably means Pantheon is also never going to have meaningful relationships. Y'know, Avatar of War and all that.

Pantheon Buffs

  • ...YOU SAY YES.: Pantheon has had his lore power curve drastically, immensely increased.
  • The hero we need but don't deserve: Pantheon now defends all of Targon.
  • Step aside Jax: Pantheon now has merit to being one of (if not the) best fighters in Runeterra.

Nerfs

  • Leona x Diana confirmed: Pantheon is likely going to be too cruel for shipping.
  • Never going to be a baker: Pantheon will likely remain avatar of war until his death.

#Taric

Bwuh!? Yes, I'm talking Taric. As there have been some ideas and connections thrown around, it now makes a little sense that most of Targon's champions are aspects of their supposed gods. Now, what do Diana and Leona have in common? They're polar opposites. Sun and Moon. So what would be the antithesis of Pantheon's aspect of war? If you said peace, ding ding ding. It's my rough assumption that Taric will be put as Targon's Avatar of Peace, unity and all around good gem-ness-isity.

Taric

Rework(???)

  • Taric rework may release sometime in the near future hell if I know I don't work for Riot.

This is the harshest nerf witnessed by League. Riot, this is completely unacceptable.

I hope they have Pantheon be likable. I'm worried he'll become xenophobic.

I said it once, but Leona's change just bothers me. She's always been this kind hearted, strong warrior to me that will stop at nothing, even if that means risking her own life, to defend the innocent. This new version... doesn't sit well with me.

But like I said before in another thread, the lore given here is too short for me to judge just yet, so I'll wait and see.

YOU UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF SHIPPERS MY FRIEND! panthXLeo will live on.

Hopefully they don't make panth too generic of a character still. Even with the demigod status it's still possible that he will become an empty shell and not a actual character that we'll be able to relate too (not saying it's bad to have god like figures not comprehensible, bard's a decent example).

I hate these changes. They're stupid, like what place do characters like Kat/Talon/Fiora/J4 have in a world full of fucking Demi gods? It's stupid, it was better when they were human.

The changes to Diana 's lore could possibly effect Nami 's quest as well. While Diana struggles with her new powers, she'll have to come to terms with responsibilities and pacts that the previous Lunar goddess/demigod/avatar had put in place as well.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, when was the last time anyone picked Leona to be a protective support? I think this lore change is good because, let's face it, by design she's a very aggressive character. I think this change will bring her in line to what her kit brings.
