Cassiopeia and Renekton, what's their Connection?

As it seems like Renekton and Cassiopeia's ally relationship remains ...unexplained, I decided to ask an open question to fellow lore enthusiasts. What is the nature of their alliance? Was Cassiopeia able to coyly manipulate Renekton, using every bit of her silver-tongued experience? Perhaps Renekton only tolerates her as an ally because she is the only person who does not incur his boundless rage? Maybe they realized they were not so different from each other as they were both neglected, younger siblings? Or was their alliance carefully arranged by Xerath who envisioned another master scheme where these two future champions would serve as his indebted pawns?

The Story (as far as we know),

When Xerath stole the "Ascension" from Azir (armor bird dude), Nasus (armor dog dude) and Renekton (armor croc dude) contained the Magus and plotted to seal him in the Shurima crypt. Unable to separate himself from the Magus long enough to escape, Renekton told Nasus to seal him in the tomb with Xerath.

Centuries later (we assume), Cassiopeia convinces Sivir, the unknowning last of the Shurima Royal Family, to go tomb raiding for some treasure. After some "Last Crusade-level" traps shenanigans that decimate Sivir's NPC army, Cass stabs Sivir in the back, takes her boomerang and uses it as a key to unseal the crypt.

After getting poisoned by "Random Snake Stone Guardian #42," Cass turns into "CassiUPeia" (rework joke), Renekton has gone bloodthirsty and crazy and Xerath still sparkles (like a WoW pony). Also, Sivir's blood (which flowed through the tomb like the translator puzzle from God of War 2), awakened Azir, thus making 2014 the year of the buggy bird (which is the word).

NOTE: Yes, I'm being pretty silly with my summation, but that's part of the fun.

It looks like Renekton now works together with xerath and Xerath is most likely rather thankful that Cassiopeia released him,judging from the new lines it sounds like Cassio and Renekton now work together with Xerath.

Having a giant crocodile as a friend can come in handy you know. Use that silver tongue of yours to bend him to your will and protect you when you need it.

Or maybe it's just because they're both cold-hearted reptiles.
