I thought that True Ice is supposed to never melt? But in the stories about Ornn, it says that this shard is melting endlessly, replacing what he was drinking.
Is there something I overlooked? Is True Ice actually melting, creating an endless stream of water? I would like some clarification about True Ice here.
I feel like "It was perpetually melting" is the wrong phrase. Or, more likely, an inaccurate observation of what was going on.
Think about a nice cold glass of ice water on a hot summers day. There's condensation on the glass, causing droplets of water to form.
Now, imagine if those droplets of condensation were happening on the ice itself, but that ice wasn't getting any smaller. It would appear that the ice was "melting", despite never getting any smaller nor warmer. In the presence of enough warmth (from Ornn) and moisture in the air (don't try this in Shurima), it could infinitely fill the cask. This is what's likely happening, just described poorly to our modern ears.
You know now that you point it out. Isn't ice less dense than water? So wouldn't a melting piece of ice actually mean there was less actual liquid in the cask? Unless the ice is just monumental and poking out of the cask.
True Ice must have some really funky properties.
Well I mean I wouldn't be all that surprised if True Ice melted in Ornn's pressence. He's Ornn after all; certified molten bad ass.
