@Story team @Art team: I think Poppy is LOL's "Dwarf" character

This is something I was thinking about last night: Poppy is LOL's main dwarf. Or rather, she's the closest thing the game has to a dwarf.

  1. She's a yordle, so she's smaller than people. So physically she's in the ball park.
  2. Of the yordle's she's more the serious type. While dwarves are capable of drinking and making merryment, they are also quite serious as well. She has their steadfastness and determination.
  3. She's a blacksmith. That's a typical dwarf trade right there.
  4. She's equipped like a dwarf. Large hammer, scale mail, large shield... yeah that's stuff you'd imagine a dwarf taking into battle.
  5. Her playstyle is all in, she's got good damage, and she's a naturally tanky champ. Dwarven bravery, strength, and toughness through and through.

It seems like on every level, Poppy is a dwarf. Dwarven personality, dwarven fighting style, dwarven history/lore/background. When they made her, I don't think you guys were looking for a yordle, I think you were looking for the traditional dwarf archetype. Since Poppy's rework is coming up and everything is on the table ATM, maybe riot should make that official.

I mean let me put it to you like this: what part of Poppy doesn't just scream "I'm a tough Dwarven Bruiser who will slay my foes for the honor of my family and revenge!"?

Bonus point to prove my case: rewatch the hobbit movies. Now substitute Smaug and the orcs in for Noxius. Do you not think that Poppy would fit right in with Thorin Oakenshield's company? I think she'd totally be there to help them slay the dragon and retake their homeland. She'd fit in perfectly and you all know it.

Then they would have to make other Dwarves and explain where the race lives and all that other stuff. They may just upset a large group of people if they change the map for that. (not that the Harrowing hasn't done that already)

Overall I agree that Poppy is more or less LoLs dwarf and that they should keep that aspect,but that shouldn't mean that they should make her a member of an actual dwarven species. I mean she is a fine contrast to the other yordles,which does add some depht to them(they aren't all just wacky and funny furballs,they can be serious just like humans) and if they created a dwarven species it would most likely end up as a faction that will never be explored at all(because if Poppy is THE dwarf,then there will never be other dwarves),making her the last of her kind wouldn be a bit similar to certain other champs(alistars village was destroyed,everyone in fizzs place vanished,etc.)
