Reworked Rammus/Rek'Sai rivalry

Beautiful alliteration, I know.

I want to talk about a minor detail that is really important for me when Rammus gets his VGU: A directly mentioned rivalry between Rammus and Rek'Sai.

Why do I expect this to happen? Most of us (at least I guess so) expect Rammus to become a demigod ala Ornn after his rework. He fits the criteria perfectly, he has animal traits like the Freljordian demigods (armadillo) and is related to a natural force: earthquakes and earth in general. Even a Rammus cult does already exist, just like the cult worshipping Ornn (RIP).

As a demigod, Rammus should be concerned about natural order and balance as well as about his people. Rek'Sai is the biggest threat to both.

Rek'Sai is an invasive species, she doesn't belong in Shurima. She even became the apex predator of her region, killing her prey ruthlessly. And to add insult into it: she does it while abusing the element which is Rammus' own origin, the earth. She is ripping wounds into the ground, totally disrespecting the demigod.

As expected from a creature not even able to talk, Rek'Sai does already lack direct rivalries in the lore. She is just pictured as that mythical beast in the desert. Other void creatures use to have some connections. Kha'Zix is fighting Rengar, Vel'Koz is searching Zilean. It would be great for Rek'Sai to have such a dynamic. It makes sense for her to be out to kill Rammus. She is the apex predator, almost nothing is able to resist her furious bite. With one exception, that creature with a shell that hard, that people are telling legends about it.

We got a short story in which Rammus was killing some bug creatures in the desert. Imagine something similar after his rework, but instead of some bug creatures, he kills Xer'Sai. The people he was protecting leave and you hear Rek'Sai's screech in the far, then Rammus and Rek'Sai start fighting.

What do you guys think about it? Should Rammus and Rek'Sai have some epic fights in the desert? Could we even get a VS event with Rammus' rework?

Tell me in the comments. [slayer-jinx-wink]

Rammus should be concerned

Nah, Rammus should be okay with anything, he is a relaxed armordillo dude who greets with open arms the foreign visitors of shurima, especially if they bring food to the country.

The only thing that should concern him, is if someone tries to hurt his dear cactuses. If RekSai mess with the cactuses, THEN it would be a problem... for her.

Actually... she already has a few rivalries in the lore already:

Renekton (as seen in the picture) and Skarner (because his whole race "lives" in the underground of Shurima, just like the XerSai).

I really like this idea. I think the Void creatures are most compelling when they have clear goals and rivals; the recent Riot bit about champion popularity showed a pretty clear spotlight on the more "bestial" champs. These champions are inherently hard to relate to; giving Rek'Sai an equally mysterious rival would help elevate the stakes in her background, I feel.

nope rammus will be revealed to be Varus's gay lover and that they are gay married and they will redo his art so rammus is wearing a mesh shirt and short shorts and he's got six pack abs

Damn this would be perfect, good thinking! Here is hoping that a Rioter sees this thread :D

I prefer Rammus stays a very apathetic true neutral-neutral good, vaguely loyal to Shurima and its peaceful people but not overly concerned with others and definitely not starting any conflict himself or taking part in any rivalry. Dealing with Rek'Sai would probably be at least a hassle, so whether or not he could fight her, he just zooms past her with superior speed (crushing any smaller Xer'Sai in his way). I'm fine if they make him a demigod or an accidentally Ascended armadillo - neither are necessarily obliged to do anything for anyone.

The problem I see with that is that both Rammus and Rek'sai are ancient and live there already for hundreds if not thousands of years. So this would mean that Rammus would pretty much suck at fighting rek'sai.
