Is it just me or the Battle Academia event just came and went just like that?

They made it as a new big skin line like project and star guardian, but this just didn't hit the mark, at least for me. It didn't have a good promo, they made some anime trailer only for China or Korea which is weird. Simply it isn't special or memorable. I think the animated trailers, songs, etc. really play a big part in why those skin lines are what they are today. When SG first came out it was an event, everyone knew about it, people returned to the game just for the game mode. The lore fans read the lore, people reading the short bios, blood type, etc, on the promo page. Then the Odyssey event. The trailer came out with no context and it instantly got people interested, then the event came out with missions, lore, great music, PvE. Then project did all of the same things that they previously established as a "standard". Then we have this. Just skins. And they clearly want this to be a big line, but I think they missed the mark. It had little to no promo, they reused the msi music for this and just didn't have anything else besides the skins. I think its more because of the previous events and how they were made and everything and this is just nothing compared to them... It didn't feel like an event. T_T

There was a storm, just not a good one.

A lot of people were (justifiably) salty about Lux and Ezreal being the focus of another skin line, plus it landed at a time most people are closing out their schoolwork.

Technically the event is still going. I mean, the last of the missions are this week and you can still get the goodies from tokens.

They combined Battle Academia with MSI events for some reason, and I don't think it worked. MSI and BA needed their own separate events. The people who care about MSI are not typically the same people who would care about a skin-related event, at least not one like Battle Academia. So the hype of BA got kind of muddled with the excitement for MSI.

Plus, like you said, they barely did anything for it; no story, no animated video, no special mode, nothing. I guess it was just scheduled poorly, or maybe they weren't sure how the skin line would perform.

Edit: Odyssey I would say is unusual. Most skin lines are established before they go whole hog and do videos and modes for it. Star Guardian started as a fun, well-suited Lux skin and they decided to expand it. Only after that huge success did they release another 5 skins and the mode. Same with Project, a well-established skin line before they committed to a mode. Maybe they learned from Odyssey and wanted to test the waters first.

It was just completely overshadowed by this whole MSI stuff. They shouldn't have combined these 2 events, Battle Academia had the potential to become one of the hyper popular skin lines like Star Guardian, Project and others.

But this opportunity was wasted. I am a gigantic, huge-ass anime fan and even I didn't really get hyped for these skins because of the way they marketed them. They deserved the same treatment and quality for an own event like Star Guardian. Give us personality tests (I loved these for Star Guardian and Odyssey), short stories about their everyday life in a school that teaches them fighting. Great music like the login themes for Star Guardian.

I had so high expectations for this event when they announced that we get a Shounen Anime skin line. But unfortunately, the combination with MSI didn't work out. If you want to introduce such a great new skin line to us, Riot, then give it a proper stage.

There was no BA event. It was MSI.

Everyone hates ez and lux being the focus my dude. It truly sucks to see them get those skin lines EPECIALLY when ezrial got a legendary skin. He already has an ULTIMATE skin like LUX for cryin out loud.

Wasted potential on making a PVE mode like they did with Odyssey. New game mode; New missions; Great rewards with real difficult missions to complete. Overall ok event yet a bit lackluster....

ModRowanstar5/31/2019, 2:06:57 PM3 votes

I despise anime (the art style, animation etc.) and this skin line doesnt fit the fantasy of LoL too well. Plus with MSI yeah it was lackluster. Plus Id prefer they focused on DS, BM and Project more than this. I just cant enjoy this line as it wasnt marketed well and its too cringy.

It's like Riot had the skins ready for release then they decided a a few days before they got shipped to make it into an event and halfassed the shit out of it.

Original Sin5/31/2019, 10:59:29 AM1 votes

Its lacklustre honestly

These skins are like hail of blades on shen ... it doesnt work

Last Gunfighter5/31/2019, 6:10:45 PM1 votes

It was a soulless skin line trying to capitalize on weeb trends. It was a bad move all around, but at least some people enjoyed it

ArvDaBeast5/31/2019, 7:04:06 PM1 votes

it was a big letdown, i was so hyped for these skins to drop back in the beginning of the year when they announced them in the skins dev diary

Zabulus5/31/2019, 10:23:55 PM1 votes

I don't care about these events im all in for the 3 Dark star skins coming out

Jennifer4205/31/2019, 12:22:32 PM1 votes

from what i can tell about this skin line.

jayce (i think?) doesnt have a thumbnail STILL! people were pissed about ez and lux getting another skin series. the event tokens are the same as msi tokens the skins didnt get any attention besides the typical "oh yeah next patch new skins as always"

Pink Experience6/1/2019, 5:12:44 PM1 votes

There was an event?

Terozu5/31/2019, 6:26:20 AM1 votes

It was for the latin server.

We find out theyre basically an anime breakfast club.

Lux's prestige skin is a super mode.

also msi i feel like i would've done better if it was its own thing and not riding off of msi the way that it did but now that i'm thinking about it KDA did so much better and being widespread and loved
