WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY AND WHAT DID HE DO TO BARON NASHOR?

Seriously Riot? SERIOUSLY? YOU KILLED BARON NASHOR?...And replaced him with another guy with THE SAME NAME?

I mean, is not the first time that a scumbag monster steal the job of another monster (I'm looking at you Vilemaw), but... _MURDERING SOMEONE AND REPLACING HIS IDENTITY? _ THAT IS SICK!... even for the voidborn standards.

... and don't tell me that the dragon skull on the lair of Vilemaw is the skull of Ebonmaw, because Riot confirmed that Ebonmaw is alive (Im writing this post after all)

... wait... actually, Baron Nashor was dead in the old lore... however.... that lore got erased with the retcon... ANYWAYS, it doesnt explain why they have the same name.

Maybe... they are the same Nashor... but, since he is a hydra worm snake thing, he can lose a head without dying?

See the thing is, now that the IoW is gone, the real Baron Nashor came back to Runeterra. The good ol' worm we were so used to was the IoW's half baked replica of the Real Baron, fabricated from scraps of eyewitness accounts and a single scale (thus why he was so minor in scale and overall very unimposing) since the IoW is no longer up and running, there were no summoners left to maintain the old Baron construct, and it reverted to a natural state of simply being a pile of inanimate matter. Enter Baron Nashor proper. Now that the IoW has left his stomping grounds, Baron Nashor has returned to his rightful place as the dominant creature of Summoners rift.

TL;DR: Old Rift and its creatures were all faulty man-made constructs imitating the real rift. The IoW no longer exists, so the Rift has been reclaimed by its former wild inhabitants (part of why they are so much more brutal and violent than the old imitation creatures).

It never reverted to the old state if the League never existed. This is how Summoners rift looks and this is how the real Baron Na'shor looks like.

He was likely summoned by the summoners of the rift, and the name of the place refers to him. Or it refers to the literal rift (the jungle) between the two bases for said summoners.

Baron Nashor didn't choose this life, they force it upon him!

The Rift is because of the fight between the two sides and the literal rift made by Na'shor. As we see on the map, the energy of the Void itself has made any land near "The rift" dead and destroyed. After the two sides left the battle flied, the local flora and fauna had mutated because of the large concentration of magical energy. The most probable outcome was that it tore a "Void Rift" and opened up a gateway for Na'shor. Oh and a Dragon is in the area because it can make a perfect nest for itself in one of the ruins that are scattered across the battlefield.

The purple hole from where Na'shor comes out is all purple and stuff, the color usually associated with Void Rifts.

Summoners are no longer a thing. Summoning is no longer a thing. The League of Legends is no longer a thing, and Summoner's Rift needs a new name.

No it doesn't, because it can still refer to a location when folks who summoned stuff met and had a rift between them. If summoning wasn't a thing anymore then Malzahar wouldn't exist either, because he summons stuff from the Void. He's essentially his own kind of summoner doing his own brand of summoning stuff.

It's not summoners as in the player-base, it's summoner's as in the dudes with the stag and owl styled architecture that are probably all dead from their war and Baron Nashor. Or something.

So no, the name is fine.

Actually a rioter said the summoners still exist, but not as the league.

So yeah summoning is still a thing, so SR is still a canon name.

It's theory crafting based on the old lore about Baron Nashor (where it explained how the real beast was much larger and decimated whole armies), combined with an explanation for the removal of the IoW from the lore (retcon but elegantly juxtaposed into the lore itself), which just happened to coincide with the Summoner's Rift VU (pure coincidence, but made for a better and more likely accurate story).

Maybe Nashor is part of a weird species that doesn't shed its skin after a time,but sheds parts of its skeleton. Like when it becomes bigger it completely spits out its old skull and simply grows a new one(I think it was confirmed that he is from the void,and void monsters have usually a weird biology)

most insects and crustaceans molt their outer exoskeletons at some point during their lives, either because they've grown to large for their old shell, or they are metamorphosing between larval and pupal and adult forms

Not really since we have no idea how creatures from the void actually "grow" so to speak. They have carapaces most of the time, but also often have bare flesh showing, so they wouldn't shed their exoskeletons in the same way arthropods do. Then there's also Kha'Zix, who just sprouts stuff out of available real estate on his body.

Meanwhile Kog'maw eats everything in sight, but apparently never grows, and Kha'zix instead of growing larger simply mutates and adapts.

Vel'koz is unclear if he even eats (no visible mouth), and Rek'sai is centuries old and apparently grew to massive size over the course of hundreds of years. basically, none of the void creatures follow a concrete growth pattern.

Thats from a gameplay stand point. Im certain he only grew from the time he passed into the world of Runeterra in lore.

The skull is a reference to the old baron. It's a jokey thing.

New Baron is Baron Nashor in his entirety. He's not an imposter.

It's like how there's a dragon skull next to Vilemaw. It's a reference to Ebonmaw.

It. Is. A. Reference.

A tribute to the old.

Remembrance.

Although it might not be canon anymore, according to lore, old Baron was known to not be the real Baron. I think that this guy might be the real Baron Nashor.

However, one day, Riot decided to destroy his home, remove the map from the game and replace it with an abomination from the Shadow Isles... The map that you call "The Twisted Treeline"... a copy with less monsters and buffs. With a dancing spider who is stupid.

Ebonmaw was the elite dragon monster who once served as the "Baron Nashor" of Twisted Treeline. It was back when the Treeline was an area near Zaun (as opposed to deep within the Shadow Isles) and had completely different visuals, map layout and playstyle.

The original Twisted Treeline was replaced by the current one back in October 2012, so people who joined recently wouldn't know about it.

well the thing is he has a tail (shown when using knockup) so i dont get how it is a part of a bigger monster

The Old "Baron Nashor" was a magical construct made by the Summoners of the Institute of War, Made to be a Less-powerful-than-the-real Nashor.

My theory is that New Nashor is the Real one and Ate the old one.
