It's been months since the retcon and...

We're still waiting on those bios. I still don't see why we can't get them on the forums. Riot can just take them down after they fix the client, if they ever do. They have retconned the League in order to tell in-depth stories, but some of the latest champions have been a monster who can't speak, and an avatar of vengeance who doesn't remember or care much about her old life.

Don't get me wrong, I like how Rek'Sai's lore expanded Shurima, but I haven't learned too much about the Void. We were told about them via Q&A, but that's telling us and not showing us. Kalista is even worse. All that hype regarding her connection to the Shadow Isles and both her cinematic and story tells us the same thing. She's a spirit who offers betrayed people revenge at the cost of their lives. Will her story be explored via the other champions, or do we have to wait and see for an event of some kind?

I want them to talk to us and expand on the champion's lives, but I also wish to see what we learn about them written into their lore.

Have you forgotten about Gnar, the incomprehensible Yordle whose lore tells you what you would already have figured out from playing one match with him. He is a pre-historic Yorlde that can go "hulk mode".

the lore is dead, man. You just have to accept it Riot just propped it up in the corner with dark sunglasses and hoped one would notice Like "weekend at Bernie's"

You aren't getting them because they aren't being written.

After doing some reading I've learned even DOTA's lore is more in depth than League's now, just hard to find.

Only person who can't actually talk, Phoenix? Yeah, they used to be a goddamn star. Also provides an actual justification towards gender due to the mythological connotations of the sun.

Who can't talk in League? A monster, we we're told is female, but honestly there is no reason to list it as female, it doesn't even have an ovipositor as an insectoid. Why is it even a queen? It doesn't do anything that involves other members of it's species? It's just a monster, the narrative team just gave meaningless details on it. Before her, I just assumed they were gender-neutral entities even, they were the H.P. Lovecraft references! Nyarlathotep was whatever the hell it wanted to be, Cthulhu is literally somethings' mother despite being a "him"!

Most of the characters that have come recently out are very stereotypical, and everyone I know who plays league understands this, that's why they don't give a shit about the lore. Not because it's poorly written, because it's boring, and they pointed out that the new champs are on the same level as the originals who weren't even written by actual writers.

Honestly, I don't know what should be done, but obviously we aren't getting anywhere here on the boards, only the narrative team is seeing any of this stuff, and since they can, they are ignoring us, if we want anything to get better with lore, we need to find a better way than just getting angry in the locked box with the artists.

In spite of their beautiful announcement a few months back detailing their intentions for the lore Riot has shown nothing for it, even after multiple promises that we would - in fact - start seeing new biographies for characters and even extensive discussions about the likes of Nocturne and Fiddlesticks... nada. What is Riot doing? Do they even know?

At this point they could literally ask for fan submissions and run a contest for which will be cannon because it would be more efficient and engaging than whatever they have brewing in the office.
