What is Rek'Sai's motivation?

Disclaimer: I am only paying attention to the old lore for this thread. Please don't go off topic with the lore retcon nonsense.

The first Void Champ, Cho'Gath, is "imprisoned" by summoners. He lets himself stay imprisoned in his cardboard box of a cell until he gets bored. As for the youngest of the Voidborn, Kog'Maw, he is focused entirely on eating everything. His sense of taste is his method to experience the overwhelmingly, delicious environment. Kha'Zix wants to consume worthy prey and adapt their features to become the ultimate life-form. The death of Rengar will be a major step in the Voidreaver's evolutionary meal plan. As for the Void's Knowledge seeker, Vel'Koz, he Learn Beams any interesting pieces of knowledge to analyze and remember. Through this method, he desires to discover Zilean's chronokinetic secrets. Since Rek'sai existed in Runeterra since the era of Ancient Shurima, which means that she was one of the earliest known Voidborn in Runeterra. With this in mind, what drives her?

I hope we actually find out.

If her expanded lore is just a scenario of her eating a caravan in the Desert, I won't be very happy.

People are claiming this is the best VO for a monster champion...but I disagree.

She's an ancient terror of shurima.

Then she shouldn't be a Void monster, she should be a regular monster

Why? All void creatures are able to speak Runeterran dialects, either through eating, learning, or Malzahar. There's no real reason to have her have no words, and when I see someone go "her movements and such!"

Yes, I can definately see her inner feeling of abandonment by Cho'Gath as she rips apart Lux, as she presses Draven down and devours his face.

Sigh...

I'm worried she won't get any motivation, same way Gnar didn't really get any motivation. Kalista, you can assume that the Rift is a good place to make deals with people, but even that wasn't developed past "she was betrayed, now she makes deals with betrayed people to kill their betrayers in exchange for their souls".

Didn't they say she doesn't even have the intelligence to speak? Maybe she's just hungry. Or bloodthirsty.

The same motivation Pac-man had.

Wait...

Well, you mostly destroy your question by telling us to not mention the retcon, since nobody needs a motivation to fight in that arena anymore. Hell, I have no idea where or why they are fighting anymore, guess they forgot about that in the Lore remake.

About the Void, it is supposed that the Void will sometime consume Runeterra, maybe Rek' Sai decided she has been a lazy ass for long enough, either that or she's just hungry, I dunno. For all I know, they write the Lore in toilet paper nowadays, take a guess what happens to their notes.

It's the same as Braum and Gnar, they give us some background info about them, some ancient story told, but about the current situation? Eh...It's anybody's guess.

Rek'sai would have been most likely an imprisoned champ in the old lore. She is most likely the first champ where it actually made sense that they did a retcon, because she really doesn't seem to be the type who could even understand(or care to understand) the benefits of joining the league.

Alternatively if they were able to communicate with her(somehow),they could have threatened her to kill her kind if she doesn't join or made it clear that she might get hunted down by other champs if she continues what she is doing now.

Or they might have been able to stick summoning magic onto her and are now summoning her against her will every time(similar to ezreal, maybe she ate someone with the same kind of glove)

What drives her? Probably hunger. She's a monster in the purest sense, a being that a human is unable to comprehend. An animal doesn't really have reasons, its driven by its primal instincts. Being so old, she's probably not as focused and refined as her younger kin. She doesn't really have a purpose nor need one.
