I do not work at riot but after reading both lores and watching the new Music Video i am sure that Amumu is just a Shuriman Prince who was cursed and died a young age. also if you see his Splash art he is making Human Figures (Longing for his parents and who he is), also he comes out of a coffin (Meaning very Important person in Egypt/Shurima) i hope this helps :D and rito if i am wrong then please correct me so i dont look like an idiot XD.
yeah I think that the yordle thing about him is kinda gone now,cause I kinda doubt that a yordle actually was shuriman royalty.
But in the end they kept it as a possibility,so we can't be sure.
It's not confirmed or denied yet. When Amumu arrives in Bandle City at the end of the music video, the lyrics refer to it as "home".
Also, he could've been the first yordle in Shurima, and his exotic nature intrigued the Shuriman population, making him a figure of worship (/theory).
(....not to mention that his body type if fit for the shape of a grown yordle instead of a human 10-year old, as is speculated.)
According to the blue side shop keeper on Howling Abyss, Amumu is a Yordle.

He was ONCE a mummified Yordle, but now he's a regular Shuriman mummy boy, or perhaps a prince. The thing about him being a Yordle was retconned by the Riot lore team.
He used to be one, but that got retconned.
