Which Lux angle will be more explored when she gets her lore updated: Sorceress or Child Soldier?

Personally, I'm wondering whether or not her "child soldier" history will be a good thing to keep when she gets her lore re-written. Considering Riot wants to write Demacia as a mage-phobic society, would that be a better angle to work with (light mage in a society that fears mages)?

Pretty sure they will focus more on the light mage part of Lux character. Jaredan mention that Lux is both feared and revered in his ASKfm a few month ago. Judging from Fiora lore their going more align to the noble lady instead of child soldiers part of her lore. League universe magic is rare and the only reason why so many champion are mages is because their special. So no wow mages.

Regardless I think Lux needa to themetic focus. She was part mage, part spy, part tactitican, part child soldier and part omg hahah as kill you happy girl. Riot is probably going to prune out her soldier part and focus on noble mage lady instead. So those how like her soldier part might be disspointed

Personally I just hope they keep the "smiling outside, crying on the inside" aspect of her character. I found it rather tragic that she loses so many chances to be herself and ends up being forced to be "perfect" for her family's reputation.

Not sure where it does say that Demacia is mage phobic, did I miss something?

Anyway I think the whole "forced into military service"-angle will likely be explored a lot more. We have already so many other mages, that just exploring how she is a mage, isn't going to stand out.

Well, actually, I don't think Lux is THAT young. Maybe like 19-21.

At least a few months ago when I asked he said that they were probably not going for the PTSD drafted as a little girl style with lux. here are all of the Ask.fm stuff that Jaraden answered

From first to last 1 Dibs on first question! Does Lux have a flat-chest complex? I know, silly/pervy question to ask, but wouldn't she be jealous of Sona's chest?

Ermm. Err. Hmm. Ahhh. Whuuuu? Eww! /runs away.

2 Of the past canon relationships (TryndAshe, LuxEzreal,GarKat, LeBlancSwain, and Tristana/Rumble/Teemo), which ones are considered still canon?

Can't speak to that right now, but I'll say that personally I've had a TryndAshe and GarKat state of mind. My good friend and colleague John O'Dyin' is all about Tristana and Rumble.

3 If you could make two far-removed champions meet, which do you think would make for an interesting story?

Off the top of my head (dangerous as it is): Jinx and Lux.

4 Lux, any new lore in the upcoming future even if it's 10 years?

Lux is very important in the way we see Demacia unfurling. I can't overstate that.

5 Lux, an amazing under rated sorceress according to the lore. The fact she can reverse engineer any spell arguably makes her the most powerful individual in the Valoran. I would love to see her have stories about unlocking her potential. And her being blind to her powers not noticing her potential

Agreed. I think there's a big future for Lux. It could also be a monumentally harrowing and tragic one, but big! ;)

6 As a worldbuilder myself, exactly how common is "magic" in post retcon Runeterra? It seems far more scant than it once was. That said, how common are magic items & spells in the world and are they accessible by normal folks, or fairly rare and hard to get?

Pretty rare, though it varies a bit. Your average Demacian would completely freak out at the sight of Lux letting rip. An Ionian would still be pretty bloody impressed though.

7 If you were challenged to have one of the most grimdark characters face one of the most upbeat/lighthearted characters, what kind of story would you write?

Off the top of my head, so sloppy pitch warning: Nocturne torments Lux with nightmares of her power becoming unleashed. Some nights it causes the devastation of all Demacia. Other nights, her nightmares focus on all Demacia turning on her, imprisoning her, and putting her to death. At her public execution, jeers all around, her brother, Garen, swings the fatal blow, a look of disappointment in her etched on his face. Each night it gets worse. In her sleep-deprived days, Lux starts to withdraw from everyone, even her brother.

And I'll stop there because I'm now pondering writing an actual outline for this. Cheers!

8 Well, yes, but you haven't really shown that. The whole 'Demacia v. Noxus is a gray conflict' thing is more something that Rioters say as opposed to something that's shown in the lore. Apart from Lux's league judgement and the existence of Riven, it seems very much good vs. evil. Yup, we haven't done enough yet to show that it isn't just good vs. bad. It's certainly our intent to show the antagonists and protagonists that exist on both sides of the divide.

9 While the idea of the "judgement" itself is no longer canon, what we saw in them is canon? For example, what we saw with Lux being taken away from her family and basically being brainwashed into loving her country, did that still happen or is that no longer a thing?

I'm pretty sure we won't be moving ahead with that as current canon due to Lux's role in Demacia. She is very important in that places future. Whether it likes it or not. Thanks for the question, Nicolas.

10 Please tell me Lux's great development in which she becomes important to Demacia is not her marrying Jarvan IV cos of politics. Her character is so awesome and badass it'd be kind of a bummer that the only way she is allowed to affect Demacia is by marrying :///

Nope. Her importance is because of who she is, the power she wields, and the effect it can have upon Demacia's very soul.

11 In terms of Lux's personality and inner mentality are you guys planning to go with the Super happy fake version or her real like really messed in the head version? I really hope you guys consider avoiding having her just be a happy super powerful mage as her other versions are much more interesting.

The main goal is for her to be a complex person, which will mean a variety in her mood and well-being.

12 Why does Darkstar Thresh refer to Lux as the "Light of Demacia"? Is this a hint for her lore update?

He just sees her as being lacking in gravitational mass. Cough.

These are all of the answers or questions which have lux in the name.

I find it extremely disappointing that they're not keeping her backstory with getting forcibly conscripted and all the shit that went down in Demacian training camps, basically amounting to brainwashing.

Lux is a pretty tragic character whose whole life is basically a lie using false positivity and Demacian fervor to push out the scars of what was done to her, and what SHE did to others (Lux is confirmed to have participated in the indoctrinations of other kids). That's an interesting story angle, see how long it goes before the facade cracks, and if it does, if she has the strength to confront her past and try to change things.

Without it, she's just kinda...a light mage? She spied for a while? She's Garen's sister? I feel like it's taking the most interesting part of the character away, which...really disappoints me, as I've liked a lot of the Lore reworks so far.

Despite the amount of different directions Lux's lore has gone in the one part that has stayed true is that she is a gifted noble. I feel like they will really drive that home, and as a result destroy her character like others. COUGHFIORACOUGH COUGHEVELYNNCOUGH
