How can riot rework eve's visual right now?
This is something I've been wondering, how do you rework the visuals of a champ if you don't know what that champ is going to do or what it is going to be? Not this isn't talking about game design so much is it is talking about how do you create a concept for something when that thing you are concepting might be 180 degrees off of your design inspiration?
Here's why I ask. Eve doesn't really have a go to role in terms of how she builds. Some people build AD. Some people build AP. Some people build TF then go full tank (Omen is the most bought item on her). So how can a concept artist rework her as a magical stealthy creature of the night or whatever when the design team wants her to be an AD tanky bruiser? Generally speaking, people who wear a ton of armor don't exactly scream stealth. Likewise how do you come up with an idea for her as a tanky bruiser if the design team thinks magical stealthy champ is probably the best role for her?
Right now Eve's role in the game is currently undecided. She's not a proper tank, mage, ad champ, or jungler. For most champs, their role in the game is pretty clear so it should be relatively easy to come up with ideas. Take shyvana, she's a naturally tanky char that turns into a dragon. Get a good dragon design, get a good human design that lends itself to the dragon and you are done. Sej is an armored chick on a pig that swings a flail around. That's pretty easy to rework. Karthus is a lich. That's pretty standard fantasy fare, mix undead with mage and you are done. Nasus and renekton are based on egyptian mythology, so you've got the themes you know you have to hit on laid out for you.
So where do you draw ideas and inspiration from to convey a message about what this champ is going to be when you don't know what this champ is going to be doing or how she'll be doing it? Is this something you have to constantly pester the design team about? Do you tell the design team that you are coming up with a concept and they need to rework her to fix that concept? What exactly is the artistic workflow in situations like these where there is no clear theme or end result?
And not all ninjas are stealthy, or assassins.
