When buying Blade of the ruined king- - I personally tested this they say "Forged in a land unwelcomed to us."
There that settles it. Although I still wonder how the Shadow Isle's inhabitants respond to Kindred.

Wolf do not "attempt to kill", he "always win"... and once he kills you, there is no coming back. So, its impossible that they killed the Ruined King... because if they did, the incident of the shadow isles would never occurred. Maybe its the Prince of the Shadow Isles or someone else before that "incident" but it cant be THE Ruined King

in short, yes that is indeed the ruined king, they attempted to end him and failed to do so, heck the splash art is even clearly in the shadow isles, you can see the lands life starting to decay and only a small grassy part still lives where he lays bleeding out, his crown is embedded in the ground where it fell, heck the trigger for the spell was probably him dying which then revived him as the ruined king.

Here Kalista describes the nations downfall, she implies that in the end the king was not responsible for the death of their people, so she blames the king but not completely, interesting.

Here we have a tale describing punishment for researching ways to defy death, along with all of this we know the spell was originally meant to bring the kings daughter back to life, but maybe kindred killed him during the ritual but instead of the spell stopping it latched onto the king instead and arose as a member of the undead bringing his whole kingdom with him.
To me this heavily implies that kindred did kill the ruined king but did so as the king was casting the spell and so without a target the spell hit the caster and the entire kingdom in which he ruled, Shurima suffered a similar fate when xerath interfered with the ritual disrupting the the intention of the magic but not stopping it.

Who said that there are persons that they failed to kill? Those undeads could have been killed by someone/something else... after all, we also know, thanks to their quotes, that others can kill their "prey", before they reach them.

Ralanr2 votesI enjoy speculation. I see these celestial champions as a wider attempt at world building (someone else brought this up before me). With the institute gone, they have freedom to expand beyond the mortal boundaries.
They already did that, but they had to give an excuse as to why they stayed within the league. It's a bit better this way to be honest, I enjoy speculating what they could mean.
Sadly I know that speculation is often different from the actual thing. I've been on the creating side of stories (nothing big) and I can bet someone can speculate better conclusions than I plan.

The rivalriy of Demacia and Noxus, the conflict in Freljord, even the interplay of the Shadow Isles champions, Ionia, etc. All those things helped immerse the player in a world. Now the development has turned kooky and unconnected. It's not far fetched to think that we'll soon have dinosaurs fighting against aliens, cowboys, samurai, sea monsters, and whatnot. Actually, we've already arrived there, I think to the detriment of the League of Legends theme and atmosphere.

Yes it's disconnected now. I don't know how they'll combine it, but I do enjoy that they are expanding it. Personally I think the sudden increase of spiritual champions means that something on a global scale is coming in lore.
Possibly a rune war.
